Wanzhold (vɒnzhəʊld)

Wanzhold was built upon a platform, inside an area with ceiling made of diamonds. To get up to the platform one had to take the Elevator of Wanzhold. The beautiful sight of the diamond dome surrounding the cave, and the sturdiness of the platform itself is why this place became a Dwarvish Hold. It used to be a densely populated, urban town.

Demographics

Majority Human population, but every believer of the Church of the Great Mind was welcome here.

Government

The government reported anyone not following the Church of the Great Mind to the Enlightened. They were most often never seen again.

Districts

The Five Pillars - was the district of the Elevator of Wanzhold and its immediate surroundings.   The Palace District - was the district of the palace, and former noble manors.   The Common District -wasis a densely populated district, basically the rest of the town. Houses mixed with shops and other buildings, it was an urban jungle.   Some consider the sewers of Wanzhold to have been their own separate district, due to their vast territory, and the surprising amount of nightlife that was found down there.

Guilds and Factions

Wanzhold rarely slept. Sewer raves, gambling, and other kinds of illegal activities were commonplace there, so it was not surprising that the town got a few criminal organizations here and there before the Disciples of the Collective took it over.

History

One of . Wanzhold was originally named "the wide hold" due to the large distance between it and the next Dwarvish Hold towards the center. The settlement has changed hands a couple of times after the fall of the Empire of Dwarovar. First Réskehold had it, then Wariés conquered it from them.   It became one of the wealthiest of settlements of Marra during the time of the Dreamwalkers who single handedly poured thousands of Danars into it.   Wanzhold then became the birthplace of the Church of the Great Mind's rebellion, one that succeeded and made it the capital of the Disciples of the Collective.   Then it all mysteriously disappeared.

Points of interest

The Sewers of Wanzhold were said to be quite interesting and complex.
