Soldier (səʊlʤə)
Soldiers are offensive combatants working for a specific nation. They usually camp, live, and stay outside of settlements until duty calls them into action.
Career
Qualifications
Depends on the professionalism of the nation's army. Dali that want to be soldiers and do not meet requirements (but are willing to improve) are taught and trained until they do.
Career Progression
A Soldier with a great mind can be promoted to a General. Generals lead the armies they fight with using various tactics. The collective of a nations' armies are led by the Commander. Commanders are rarely found in the battlefield and are mostly responsible for the strategies of the armies. It is rare, but a non-soldier can also become General or Commander.

The Soldiers are paid by the nation's leader.

History
Soldiers often did not belong to any Ruler, they were instead an independent force for nations large enough to need them that served the leader(s) of the nation. For example it was not unheard of that Soldiers were sent to pacify a settlement, which the local Guards (that served the Ruler of the settlement primarily) defended.
This distinction of the past is still present in many places.
