Ruanon

Ruanon is a large, layered city with a population larger than some smaller nations. It is a place for everything and everyone, a trading town with multiple markets, countless housing and a constant struggle of rising to the top.

Demographics

Every species and type of dali can be found inside Ruanon due to the sheer size of it. It is a place where it's easy to blend in even if one's look would differentiate them from others elsewhere.

Government

The capital itself is directly governed by the Emperor of Ruanon, the nation - prioritizing the settlement's citizen over those from other settlements.

Defences

Each district of Ruanon has their own General and set of Guard. They usually settle and live inside their own respective districts, but each of them swore direct loyalty to the Emperor. On top of it the Imperial Army of Ruanon also resides inside the settlement, but they often only congregate for major outside threats.

Districts

Ruanon itself is surrounded by three walls, the innermost wall was the first, and the outermost the last. Most often the wealthier a citizen is, the deeper inside the center they live. The city's size requires it to be divided into 28 districts, each having their own micro-government led by the General of the district's Guards.   Districts inside the innermost wall:
  • Citadel District - the citadel district is where the palace and the central government of Ruanon is located. It is a place where only the most influential imperials may reside.
  Districts inside the second wall:
  • Diplomat District - a district where the rest of the government's representatives usually reside. It is not always the case, as moving here is not mandatory.
  • Noble Center District - as its name suggest it is a district with the most lavish houses where the wealthy elite of the settlement lives.
  • Olfort Corner District - a historical district where many barracks stand and Soldiers reside.
  • Western Market District - the western market district is where those in the westernmost districts head to purchase goods.
  • Bardgarden District - a district full of entertainment.
  • Sparkgarden District - an industrial district where goods (usually outside of weapons and armor) are manufactured.
  • Upper Grunsen District - a residential district for nobles.
  • Mage's District - a district for magical goods, ingredients, academies and learning.
  • Adventurer's District - a district built for Ruanon's Adventuring Guild with surrounding buildings to support it be it via food or niche goods.
  • Greengarde District - a noble district of beautiful houses.
  Districts inside the third wall:
  • Newfort Corner District - a district of culture, museums, and entertainment.
  • Flinnak's Road District - a mixed residential district of Soldiers and regular citizen.
  • Silent Garden District - a quiet residential district.
  • Rogue Corner District - a district known for its illicit activities and Courtesans.
  • Newtown Slums District - slums.
  • Steelvalley District - a district filled with forges and smithies, where most of the weapons and armor of the settlement is created.
  • Lower Grunsen District - a district of minor nobles.
  • Southern Market District - the market district surrounding the southern entrance of the city. It is a market of many wandering merchants, either coming via Ship or foot.
  • Fisherman District - called such due to the constant smell of fish. Mostly contains warehouses.
  • Southport District - the southern ports of the settlement, it is usually where common dali dock.
  • Warehouse District - a district full of warehouses.
  • Northport District - the northern ports of the settlement, it is usually where guild and organizational Ships dock.
  • Northern Market District - a market right next to the northern entrance of the city. It's usually where bulk goods are sold, but as any other market district almost anything can be found here.
  • Shipyard District - a district where once Ships were manufactured (before the port districts got finished), it mostly functions as a residential district today.
  • Wustep Row District - often called the northern slums of the city.
  • Inner Residential District - a residential district.
  Districts outside the walls:
  • Lighthouse District - it is the area surrounding the main lighthouse of the port of Ruanon. Many fishermen tend to settle and work around here so it slowly grew out as its own district of the city.
There are also many farms surrounding the northern walls of the settlement where Farmers tend to live and work. Although these farms are not owned by the government of Ruanon, they are most often than not heavily subsidized by it and have agreements of working directly for the city.

History

The settlement is rumored to have been founded by an Elf of Zha'dia often referred to as The Founder whose profile is on the flag of the nation of Ruanon. Initially the settlement was like any other, only having the territory of the Citadel District of today. Walls were built around the settlement, each time expanding its territory. By the 1700s it had three walls and expanded into ludicrous proportions.
