Effect

When the spell is cast, a spinning platform of flames, in the form of a spinning top, springs up underneath the caster, supporting their weight and levitating them off the ground by two feet. This spell provides the recipient with several options for mobility, defense, and attack. The platform is mobile and controlled by the casters will. While under the effects of this spell the caster gains a base land speed of 50 and is not hampered by rough terrain (although the top cannot climb slopes greater than 45 degrees).   The top begins filling only a five-foot square under the caster, but at will, the caster can extend plumes of flame that stem from the top and fill the adjacent spaces with fire, expanding its flames up to 15 square feet. These flames deal 4d6 damage to any creature entering them with a save versus spell for half. Note that this will also harm allies if the caster gets too close.   The top has the additional ability to hover over a prone medium creature or any smaller creature to burn them. This attack takes up all of the caster's actions for this round. The target gets a dexterity check to avoid being mounted by the flames, and a failed check results in the target being pinned by the force exerted by the flames and dealt 8d6 fire damage. A strength check is required to break the pin and escape the flames, otherwise, the damage will be repeated each round, adding an additional die of damage every round until death.   The caster is not required to make dexterity checks to stay on the top, but otherwise, there is no force that tethers the caster to his fiery mount. The caster may be tripped, bull rushed, or grabbed as normal (however any creature entering the same space as the top takes 4d6 fire damage) and any effect or attack that removes the caster's feet from the top ends the spell immediately.   Note: this spell produces a constant intense heat applied to the surface on which it operates. Moving the top over combustible materials will ignite them. Moving through forests or plains will likely cause fires. Moving over wooden floors may destroy them in addition to setting fire to the building. The spell is useful only if employed with responsibility and caution.
