The Basics
Tortles are reptilian-looking humanoids with large shells on their backs that were capable of containing their entire bodies. They have leathery skins that vary between olive-green to blue-green hues. Their shells are usually darker than their skins. Tortles come from the
Land of the Lost or what the Tortles call Gurinjan. They are found near the coastlines and in the swamps that surround the mainland. They usually live in groups of Tortles called bales. Tortles resemble either Turtles or tortoises. Tortoise Tortles have an average life span of 600 years with some living even longer. Tortles that look like turtles have a shorter life span of about 250 years.
Culture and Personality
Tortles are not a religious race and do not worship any gods. Instead tortles tend to be more spiritually connected to physical nature. Around other tortles at home, they tend to keep to themselves and are known to be travelers. Tortles are curious creatures thus once every 25 years a tortle will travel to a new land to experience new cultures and customs. Once a Tortle begins to become homesick he or she travels back home to Gurinjan spreading the knowledge they gained to other tortles. Tortles are mostly good creatures who love to bond with other races and gain friendships.
Government
After the fall of the Midshima Empire 8000 years ago the once political tortles had now found themselves in the ruins of a once mighty empire. Slowly after many attempts to rebuild, the tortles abandoned their cities and became one with nature.
The Tortles of the present day do not have any form of government and peacefully co-exist with other bales of tortles. Throughout all Trotle bales in
Daledon there exists only one rule all tortles must abide by
"DO NOT GO INTO THE JUNGLE"
Jungle of Guringan
The Jungle of Guringan is the jungle area that covers most of the mainland. In this jungle, Daledon's most fearsome creatures inhabit the ancient ruins of the Midshima Empire. All tortles avoid this area and have not entered the jungle since it became overgrown. 1000 years ago a tortle named
Toaw adventured into the Jungle, a few days later he returned to his bale. The night after all the members of his bale had gone insane and slaughtered another nearby Bale. Since that tragedy happened, no tortle has been allowed to enter the jungle and doing so would bring upon banishment from Guringan.
