Lei Kang-Ba (a.k.a. Furious Whirlwind of Shukoro)
Kang-Ba Lei (Ryushan names, specifically those of the Hei ethnic group, have the surname come first. Thus, Kang-Ba is the family name, and Lei is the first name.), nicknamed the "Furious Whirlwind of Shukoro", is one of the many Warlords vying for control of the Jade Phoenix Throne (and subsequently all of Ryusha). Headstrong, hubristic and imperious, she is the current Matriarch of the Kang-Ba Clan, and is one of the most powerful warlords in Ryusha, with some already hailing her as the next Emperor. She gained her nickname from her younger years, which she spent as a disciple of Ko-Juzu (a South Ryushan martial art focused on fast, aggressive open-hand techniques and kicks, as well as a swathe of blade techniques and projectile deflection moves) at the Graceful Monkey Temple on Mount Shukoro (territory that Lei now controls).
As the story goes, Lei's bad attitude and sheer proficiency at the young age of 12 phased even the famously stoic masters at Monkey Temple. One monk, Minozai, was so angered by the young Lei's insolence and clear lack of respect for the philosophy of Ko-Juzu that he hired 40 bandits to attack the Temple who he instructed to only stand down when Lei talked them into surrender. When the day of the attack came, Lei was sent out by Minozai under the guise of protecting the temple. Despite the monk's urging, Lei killed 37 of the bandits, using Ko-Juzu techniques hidden from even the old master Minozai. Kang-Ba Lei left only three alive, sending them to spread the word of her skill. Those 3 bandits spread the story of the "Furious Whirlwind of Shukoro", and the name stuck to the young ruler even into her adult life.
As of CR 10059, Kang-Ba Lei controls most of South-Western Ryusha, namely Mount Shukoro, the Holy Island of Iezi, Zhuquan Island, and parts of Ri-Rin Forest. Her capital is Guangsha City. Currently, she is in conflict with Dragonborn Warlord Rilairazx for full control of Ri-Rin forest. With the forest, and the temple located within, under her control, Kang-Ba Lei could drive Rilairazx back over the Chang Heishui, possibly even forcing him into exile in the Xiadai Forested Hills. With this, the way to the old Capital-and Dhou Lin- would be wide open. Although, the Shinokata Shogunate on the Island of Jimōn near her territory is an important strategic concern. If the Bakufu attacks Zhuquan or Iezi, islands part of the state's ancestral lands, then Lei might be caught up in a costly conflict with a tenacious enemy.
