Daeran

The world of Daeran exists in three seperated strata. The normal world which humans live in(Daeran), the Heavens which exist above Daeran and are where heroic souls are sent to live at the top of one of the pillars of heaven until they are needed down below once more and reborn among mortals. Then beneath Daeran there exists the realm of the dead which is supported by the bases of the pillars of the heavens, the foundations of the earth, where all other souls are sent to have rest until they have rested several times longer than they lived and return to try and attain heroic status to advance to the Heavens. The pillars of heaven provide a different use than just a place for heroic souls to live. They support the 'heavens' themselves over the sky of Daeran. The heavens is a barrier which was raised to defend Daeran from a long forgotten foe bent on invading from the skies. This state has existed for ten thousand years. The heavens barrier stops all spiritual and supernatural forces from entering or leaving. This includes souls, so the system of Daerans souls is a closed loop with people being born and dying, each time with supposedly erased memories, but it grows weaker every cycle. People are now born are picking up things quickly, remembering things from long ago and slowly being crushed under the weight of their memories as they are stuck into ruts by the feeling of familiarity.
