The young matriach of House Thorne is one of the more influential figures in the politics of Dol Gadmen, leading a good swathe of the houses in the Shimmering City in a coalition known as the 'People's Movement for Progress'.
Change is their modus operandi, as they look to push the boundaries of what is known in the magical world and lead innovation within the Empire's elite circles.
Alina is an active member of the Conclave of the Fifth, known to host lavish parties and further change within the Empire through her connections amongst the Conclave's powerful sorcerers.
House Thorne is one of the oldest families of the city - their enterprising nature allowing them to survive the great shift of power that rocked the city over two centuries ago.
The renowned Thorne estate is on the western side of the city, close by to the vinyards that stretch off along the far side of the valley. It is characterized by its beautiful roses of every colour imaginable, the incredible smell wafting to the surrounding locales.
