Session 6 Report- 2022/11/06

General Summary

The party made it’s final preparations to burst into The Great Ulfe’s quarters and attempt to take him out:
  • Farlen readied his poison arrows
  • Byjorn readied his Force Ballista
  • Camzel readied her Walloping Arrows

The party burst into the room to find The Great Ulfe and 3 of his trusted wolves:

Darzug immediately rushed Ulfe and began attacking him, while the party began to work on the wolves in the far corner. The wolves took a big chunk out of Farlen’s hit points, causing him to retreat to the safety of the Orcs protection. Camzel used Ulfe’s bed as strategic cover quite well, until one of the wolves got on top of the bed and routed her out of the position.
On Round 4, Burdug and her 2 Daughters (who are under the effect of the Bless spell) showed up. Burdug cast Thaumaturgy and the door to Great Ulfe’s room slammed shut. The 2 daughters immediately moved to flank their brother Darzug and brought him to within an inch of his life. Fearing for his life, Byjorn retreated behind a pile of bones in the far corner. Camzel disengaged and moved to Byjorn’s position. One of the wolves pursued her and took a large chunk of her health with it. Out of fear and a lack of options, Byjorn used his enlarge spell to grow to 10ft tall to scare the wolfe (which worked). This caught the eye of Burdug who was now focused on only one thing; the longevity of the tribe. With the sisters about to put the killing blow on Darzug, Farlen yelled to them about how they are just here to deliver a letter to Shakla’s mother. The mention of Shakla was just enough to cause the sisters to pause and consider what he said. With what could have potentially been his final act, Darzug swung his Greataxe at Ulfe and lodged it directly in his chest, killing the beast.

The Deal
Immediately upon combat being over, Byjorn began to loot the room while the party, led by Farlen, negotiated a deal with Burdug.
The Party would provide:
  • Byjorn’s masculine prowess for an evening, per Byjorn’s consent (which he did). The "deed" would need to be completed as many times as possible with Burdug, Orc Sister #1, and Orc Sister #2
  • Spreading the word to any eligible alpha males (Orc or otherwise) that the tribe is looking for a broodfather.

Burdug would:
  • Support Darzug in taking over leadership of the tribe
  • Free the Prisoners (although she did not commit to not taking more prisoners in the future)
  • Allow the party to take a long rest before continuing on
  • Provide free passage through their compound as needed (Burdug’s condition is that the barricade to the lower level would be maintained and that they could use the tribes secret knock on her chamber door if they wanted to get through).

  • On the way out the door of the Chamber, Camzel sneakily sawed off the head of The Great Ulfe as proof of the party’s deeds to the Shadowy figure from Skullport.

THE PARTY RESTED FOR TWO NIGHTS (well, everyone except Byjorn)

The party spoke with the Orc tribe and agreed that the tribe would give the little girl back to her parents in Blasingdell (which they learned the correct name of from Courana).
As a thank you to the party for freeing the tribe from Ulfe’s rule, Darzug gifted the following:
    To Farlen: Dreamscribe's Blade

    To Camzel: Mirage Longbow

To Byjorn: The Orcs will allow him to keep any loot he already has, and they will not kill him since he has done his best to further the bloodline of the tribe.

Learning More About Khundrukar and the Forge of Fury

Upon discussing with Courana, she shared with the party:
    • An Oral Legend of Khundrukar
    • “Legends tell of Dhurgeddin the Black, a strong and stubborn dwarven artisan, his exceptional smithing skills known to everyone. About 200 years ago, his home village was a victim of a brutal attack by orcs and trolls. Durgeddin stepped up as leader and led the survivors to find a new home. They wandered for a long time before discovering a cavern complex within a mountain, away from prying eyes and savage dangers, and built the Khundrukar stronghold there."
    • Tales of Durgeddin The Black
    • “Durgeddin the Black, Smith of Balnorhak, Lord of Glitterhame and Thane of Khundrakar!” the herald announced. The carved stone doors swung open to reveal an elderly dwarven lord of noble bearing, broad-shouldered and strong of limb. His grey-streaked beard glittered with jewels and gold. Gemstones studded his leather jerkin. Rings glittered on every finger. At his side hung a great craftsman’s hammer."
    • Letter from Durgeddin The Black (Only Byjorn can read it):

The party went through the makeshift barrier and were immediately hit with a WRETCHED smell. As the orcs barricaded the last opening behind them, the party realized there is no turning back. Before they knew it, they encountered a BLACK Guard Drake (note that picture is blue, but the one you saw is black):
The party got caught in a hallway which made it hard to maneuver and efficiently kill the beast. The party plans to take a short rest before they venture down the stairwell and into the next level of the dungeon…
THE PARTY IS NOW DONE WITH “The Mountain Door”. THEY ARE MOVING ONTO “The Glitterhame” LEVEL OF THE FORGE OF FURY.
