Wizards of Nine

The Wizards of Nine (originally the Wizards of Eight) are a guild aimed at intermediate to advanced wizards, specifically those seeking the pursuance and expansion of magic. Entry requires, among other things, the creation of at least one spell.  

History

  Closing of the Leyline, 303rd year of the Second Age. Guildmaster Toril oversaw the closing of a leyline, opened by causes unknown*. A circle of nine wizards (eight archmagi, and Enesha who at this time was not yet a registered magus with the guild) tapped into the leyline's unrestrained power and used it to fuel a 10th-level spell, Partum Draco, and created the realm's first Topaz Dragon.
Base of Operations: Cloudpiercer Tower in Hollyhock.   Leader: Headmaster Toril.   Formed: Sometime in the first century of the Second Age.   Alignment: Generally Neutral or Neutral Good.

  Allegiances. The Somnian monarchy, Knights of the Tome, Seraphine & her followers.   Enemies. The Seekers (unfriendly, but not at war).

The Seekers many attempts to regulate Divination magic and restrict non-Seekers from the study of Divination and prophecy has soured relations with the Wizards of Nine, who strive for higher knowledge in all forms of magic.
