D'neth

1081

Created by

The year is 1081 AS or, After the Shattering. In the millennium since the Eidolons gifted their relics of power and departed the material world, humanity has forged for itself divergent paths that interact and overlap to often explosive ends. The lands of D'neth are largely connected by rivers, roads, and, for a select few, more magical means. Yet despite this great connectivity, D'neth is a young world with pockets still unexplored.   In the heart of D'neth lies the once powerful Iron Empire, which ruled from its homeland of Ferrin, the largest bastion of worshippers to Terenor, the Earth King. Stretching forth in every cardinal direction, the Empire commanded the allegiance of its four neighbors, the innovative Edins to the north, the mercantile Kawanese to the west, the agrarian Maodi to the south, and the fierce Simerians to the east. Each people brought their own strengths, willingly and otherwise, to the alliance of the Empire, alliances hard won through bloodshed, diplomacy, and blackmail.   To the far west of the Empire's lands, past the impenetrable depths of the Sea of Restless Waters, lie the dead wastes of Machabh, a land forever scarred by the creatures that now stalk its landscape. Once, Machabh was home to the Empire's foremost rival, the Solari, who reveled in combat and warfare. With the onset of the God Wars that culminated with the Shattering of the God-King, the Solari were irrevocably destroyed, while their lands became overtaken by a new deity of more mysterious persuasion.   Now, over a thousand years later, the darkness that took up residence in Machabh has begun to lash out once again. Just eighteen years ago, the landscape of Machabh came alive again with the machine of war, fed and guided by the former heir to the Stone Chair of Ferrin. In the years since then, much of D'neth has been destroyed or isolated by the dark god that fuels the Ashen Army.   It is into this chaotic world that our heroes, Will, Kate, Luke, Eli, and Myah, find themselves unintentionally thrust. Yet despite their fears and inhibitions, it will be up to them to liberate the lands of D'neth from under the dark yoke of the Nightmare.
