History of Cyricael

One fateful day, a mysterious fortress rose out of the ocean and loomed over the land of Tychara. Not understanding the implications, the leader at the time: Atnem Sorellis, commisioned a group of adventurers to lay siege to the castle and prevent the demons from laying waste to Tychara.

The adventurers were allowed to use a Teleportation Circle in order to enter the floating citadel and proceeded to make their way upwards. At its peak, they faced a man named Edwyn, who was possessed by an aspiring Demon Lord: Arsorias. The adventurers fought bravely and defeated Arsorias, freeing Edwyn from his possession.

After his defeat, the floating citadel fell into the depths of the ocean, but the adventurers survived and lived the remainder of their days in relative peace amongst the land of Tychara, isolated from the forthcoming disasters. Little did anyone know this was the beginning of the end.

Almost 1000 years after the defeat of Arsorias, a significant disturbance caused a monumental shift in the boundary between the Material & Astral Planes. Soon, the Ethereal Plane began to crystallize and shatter, with any persons inside at the time immediately trapped in the boundary and unable to return.

Shortly after this event, later known as the Breach, beings from the depths of the Astral Plane began to crossover and "mark" individuals, using these persons as tethers to the Material Plane so they could not be banished back from whence they came. Any weak-willed individuals that were marked soon had their bodies taken over by these creatures and used to commit nefarious acts against their own.
