Edstow

The city of Edstow is a hub of craft and trade in central eastern Glastawa Depths. Situated partway between the capital of Daemarrel and the city of Breen, Edstow benefits from logging trade headed south and metal trade headed north. A common stop for many merchants as they travel across the lake, the city boasts a healthy noble class, parties, as well as an appointed Treasurer of the realm. Few cities outside of the largest in the realm of Gratelyn have the trade required to draw the attention of the Trade Council, but Edstow falls into that list. The Treasurer of the realm is responsible for taxing foreign and domestic trade. Many merchants choose to pay realm taxes and receive writs of payment while stopped in Edstow, rather than deal with the larger trade hubs (and waits) of Breen or Daemarrel. However, this has also lead to a formidable underground operation selling falsified papers and stealing cargo.   Edstow has 8 primary districts:
  • Sisoc Market: Sisoc has lodging and stables that cater to the land based merchant and adventurer. There is a trade market located near Gudwep Park that has many temporary stalls where merchants will come to trade goods. Adventurers can find work in the taverns here, as well as a comfortable rest at an affordable price. Travelling circuses also set up in the clearing in northern Sisoc.
  • Edstow Plaza: Home to the government buildings of Edstow and the residencies of many of the Gratelyn emissaries who stop by Edstow on their way to a destination. Here you will find tax offices, registrars for adventuring companies, legal aid, and various other social services.
  • Gudwep Park: Posh, prim, and delicate. Intricate elven architecture highly influences the nobility and their home in Gudwep Park. If you are not of a noble house, you are allowed through one of the three entrances by invitation only. Gudwep park is bordered by the guardsmen district, home to the local guards, sheriff, and bounty guild.
  • Ruksham North / Old Ruksham: Bordering the city is the rotten underbelly of Edstow. Ruksham north surrounds the guardsman district and tends to attract more beggars and folks down on their luck as opposed to the surly and unkempt. The later finds their kind in Old Ruksham, closer to Thris Hill and Riwalt Center.
  • Riwalt Center: The trade and financial hub of Edstow. Banks, fine wares merchants, spice traders, and permanent shops are rented out here. More moderately priced accommodations can be found in Riwalt Center.
  • Harborside District: Fish and seafoam assault the nostrils upon entering Harborside. Serving as the ocean faring transit hub for traders and adventurers, as well as the location of the local fishmongers, Harborside has all of your lakeside needs covered.
  • Thris Hill: Scholars, clergymen, priests, and the inquiring mind find their way to the educated area of Thris Hill
  • Lower Cross: If you seek woodworkers, metal smiths, or other craftsmen, the Lower Cross has them in surplus.
  • Edstow is also surrounded by fertile farms and woodlands, however much of their agriculture trade comes from nearby farming villages, rather than the few farms still in existence here from the founding of Edstow.
