Space and Time

Space and time in the Feywild are possibly what makes it feel so alien to travelers from the Material Plane. To perfectly explain how space and time acts within the Feywild, and how it affects its denizens to someone not from the Feywild is nigh impossible and a waste of time.

The people of the Feywild are so fundamentally different from ours, with their own unique set of needs. A structured space and time is not included in that list of needs. In the Feywild, the laws of reality are malleable, unimportant, unnecessary. A common example of this is the old wives tale that states that after returning to the Material Plane from the Feywild, you will return years later into the future, and your memory of the plane will have been completely forgotten. This theory is rooted in some truth, yet still falls short.

You see, that theory is still trying to put absolutes on things that are not absolute in the Feywild. In reality, yes, it is possible that when a traveler returns, the time he or she returns to could be completely different. But it could be the past, it could be the future, it could be a difference of a couple of minute, or several years. It is possible that when a travler returns, they may forget certain moments from their time in the Feywild, but not likely to be everything. Furthermore, a traveler could even return with more memories, not of their own. Time and space are utterly malleable in the Feywild, and to explain it in absolutes is a failure to explain it all all.

The next question becomes, how can such a lawless place be bound to these "rules of the Fey" (see "Rules of the Fey)? Simply put, laws of physics do not have power in the Fey, instead it is willpower that rules. Will, dreams, beliefs, promises, deals, oaths, emotions, they are all carried with such a heavy weight and are bound within the bedrock of the Feywild itself.
