Session 12: What is Right or Wrong?
The party decides to head to the City of Demons, Dominion, to keep an eye on Caecus Belamor and his plans. When they arrive, they are met with what remains of a betalion that infiltrated the city and attacked his citizens. The 8 that were still alive were bound and gagged on a raised platform in the middle of the city. Caecus stood nearby and spoke to the crowd, their anger being directed towards the attackers.
After some exchange, Caecus once again shows his power by banishing the attackers behind the Divine Gate, which does raise some questions. Was the preassumed knowledge that the Divine Gate was utterly impassable? If so, how do we explain this? If not, who then is able to cross it or influence it? What does this mean for the civil war brewing on the other side?
Afterwards, Caecus returns to his mansion to begin planning a battle strategy "should the need arise". Sunder takes this to be yet another sign of aggression and another slip in his sanity; Bellamor is mere inches away from breaking, and he wants to be there when he does. A couple other party members side with Sunder, as a couple still others have hesitations on claiming that Caecus is the aggressor in this situation.
Despite the back-and-forth, an accord is reached: you must dispose of the Eden Fruit alltogether. The current plans are either: (a) convince the Keeper of the Obelisk to prevent Caecus or the citizens of Dominion to take anymore Eden Fruit, or (b) figure out a way to get the Obelisk on the other side of the Divine Gate where it will theoretically get instantly absorbed by another god in completion. If what we know about the divines applies in this scenario, it should mean that if a god comes into contact with the Obelisk, then that would be the end of it. That divine would absorb the Eden Fruit from that fallen diety in its entirety. The issue lies in how to get it behind the Gate.
Until that is figured out, the High Throne has made an appearance again. The matriarch of the throne, The Queen of Dreams and Virtue, has reached out to the party, trying to get someone to come with her into her Domain of Delight. We end the session, discussing who (if anyone) will willingly enter the Domain or if the Queen's threat to send the fir graudh after the party will come to fruition.
