Matariel, former goddess of ascension

Matariel, the former goddess of ascension, delighted in bringing the noblest of heroes into the gods' realm of Avalon. She believed that all mortals, if deemed worthy, should share in the gods' celestial blood.

During the Calamity, Matariel granted the ascended mortals with immensely powerful black magic, corrupting their very souls, turning them into the first demon lords.

During the Divergence, Matariel was banished to the 9th level of the Abyss where she is tortured by the demon lords she created.
