Cleiya

Now known as the Shattered Lands, Cleiya is a somber reminder of the great country it used to be. Once a nation where adventurers went to make a name for themselves, now most of Cleiya stands in a heap of rubble due to the aftermath of the Calamity.

During the Calamity, the heroes that rose against Al Nacash made their stand in Cleiya, and as retribution, Cleiya was the object of his wrath. Before the heroes could successfully banish him to the Abyss, Al Nacash tore the land apart, killing entire cultures, wiping out their impact on Cynthian future completely. What remains is a few splinter kingdoms within the continent: The Enclave of the Bear, Hope, and the Ra'hanaen Forest.

But even after the Calamity, living in the Shattered Lands is not without its challenges. With the great loss of most civilization, there has been an influx of wild beasts and great monsters to the land. Survivors have needed to adapt quickly or lose all progress they've made trying to rebuild their homes.

Enclave of the Bear

During the Age of Arcanum, there was one barbarian chieftain that sought to unite the barbarian tribes that called Cleiya their home. During the events of the Calamity, he was successful. Though most of the tribesmen died in battle against Al Nacash and his minions, the united force of barbarians, under the chieftain White Bear, made their home in the remains of the crumbled mountain range, now called the Ursan Steppes.

Post-Calamity, White Bear named his people's claimed lands after their tribe, the Enclave of the Bear. Today, their answer to the monster problem is simply to live alongside them. The Enclave believes that rather than struggling against the beats, they should embrace them. Many of the barbarians have even developed supernatural connections to the majestic animals, becoming great hunters side by side.

Hope

Hope is the coalition of the mortal races that have survived the Calamity and the shattered of Cleiya. The kingdom of Hope is centered on its capital, the castle that stood the test of tribulations, Cascade.

Cascade's highly trained military is rough, stoic, and brutish. Their strategy for survival is strength. They face the monstrosities head-on, beating them back from their lands, or they die trying. The nation of Hope has already lost so much from the Calamity, and they refuse to let the lands try to rise against them. The people of Hope dream of returning Cleiya to the civilized splendor it once was, and they will slay any beast that the land throws their way.

The Ra'hanaen Forest

The Ra'hanaen Elves originated in the fearless land of Tethoris, and during the Age of Arcanum, they expanded into the mystical forests on the southeastern corner of Cleiya. During the Calamity, Princess Arawen and her elves stood fast against the serpent and his vile minions. Though they suffered casualties, the Ra'hanaen Forest was the only part of Cleiya that did not fall.

Now, as their queen, Queen Arawen still leads her people with the utmost wisdom and grace. Her answer to the beast problem is simply that there is no problem in the first place. The Enclave of the Bear may develop connections to the beasts, but they still use them to fight against the land with brute force. But the Ra'hanaen Elves accept Cleiya for what it has become, and with a natural affinity for the land, the monsters that roam the Shattered Lands don't antagonize the elves much at all.

Instead, the Ra'hanaen Elves have learnd to summon them, making a once-powerful force even stronger. If any nation or army was foolish enough to attack the Ra'hanaen Elves of the Shattered Lands, they would be met with expert rangers, elite dragon-riders, and now, powerful beast-speakers.
