Welcome to Cynkard!

Welcome to the world of Cynkard, where the nights are darker than you know, the sky missing any sort of moon; And the days are as bright as summer year round thanks to the Twin Suns that illuminate the sky!

Cynkard is a world resembling the familiar world of medieval times of our own world, however sprinkled with magic and the unknown as all fantasy worlds should be. What makes Cynkard different from the rest? A handful of things aside from the above mentioned skies. Here's a few things you should know when starting adventuring in the realms:
  • There are two gods watching over the world - Javat and Sanat. Javat is the good god of law and is worshiped widely across the majority of the civilized lands. Sanat is the evil god of chaos, and no sane person would openly admit to worshiping him in civilized lands.
  • Your origins matter - when you create a character you choose what land you hail from. That part of your character has influence on many aspects of your character, including available classes, among others.
  • Cynkard is a low magic setting - what that means in gameplay terms is that the practice of spellcraft is rarer than what you may be used to and the most powerful of magi are few and far between. Additionally, magic items you will come across will usually be consumable, such as potions and scrolls, rather than magical weapons and armor.
  • Adventuring can be a profession - while not every adventurer will be part of the Adventurer's guild a majority of them will be, thanks to the included benefits. During session zero your group will have to decide whether or not your group will be part of the guild. It's an all or nothing deal, unionized adventurers do not typically work with freelancers except in extraordinary circumstances.
  • The world is deadly - no easily accessible revival magic exists in Cynkard, and death is a common companion of a reckless adventuring party. Your characters will have to use their wit and ingenuity to maximize their chances of survival.
If these terms are to your liking, welcome! I hope my world will be home to your greatest adventures!
