Neo- or Subhumans

Although there is little scientific data to support it, there is a popular theory in the scientific community that this is not the first time in the Earth's history that there have been mass mutations of the Homo Sapient genome. Just as the Earth goes through phases that can last centuries or millennia, so the Human gene may go through phases that are equally as long.

These scientists claim that many thousands of years ago, before recorded history, there was another mass mutation where millions of people were affected. It is also thought that these mutated Humans were likely killed off en masse, being thought of as evil of infected with illness.

The scientific community classifies these mutations as Neohumans, or new Humans, but the popular term is Subhumans. Scientists maintain that all animals go though periods of evolution, and the first steps of evolution may be mistaken as aberrant mutations. They maintain that a larger and larger percentage of the Earth's population will display mutations such as these until we are a completely new race.

These same scientists say that it is not coincidence that each of the Neohuman mutations seems to be specifically suited to particular environments. It only makes sense, they say, for evolution to 'specialize' in survival of a specific environment.

Charles Sagan, son of famous cosmologist Carl Sagan, has put forth the argument that the odds of such specific mutations happening 'out of the blue' are astronomically minute. It is a more likely scenario that these mutations have been expressed before and have lain dormant in the Human genome for centuries, unrealized until triggered by an external influence. Either way, he is insistent that this is a completely natural occurrence that should be accepted, if not embraced.
