Geographical Divisions

After several years of the government fighting to imprison all of the Subhumans, a clear dividing line began to emerge. The Dwarves had claimed the Rocky Mountains as their territory, particularly the Colorado Rockies. Trolls had claimed the back range, the western face of the Rockies as their own, while the Faeries had claimed the front range. The Yeti claimed Siberia as their ancestral territory, even though Yetis hadn't existed a decade earlier. Merpeople seemed to congregate along the Great Barrier Reef off of the Australian coast, and Zombies stuck to sewers and other places out of sight and mind of the general populace.
Sticking with the stereotype of their name, the Dwarves dug into the Rockies and crafted underground cities for themselves. Their skill with sculpting stone was amazing; they believed in making everything a work of art. Mining gold and other precious metals was the method by which they supported themselves.
Trolls were suited for little other than taking abuse. They typically hired themselves out as bodyguards and mercenaries. Having a Troll bodyguard or two was a status symbol by corporate bigwigs.
Faeries, being gifted with incredible intelligence, became the new business entrepreneurs and stock market gurus. They also held the stigma of being the best riggers since they had the highest IQ and reflexes.
Merpeople became the guardians of the seas, gathering trash and pollutants and flinging them back on shore where they came from. They have also been known to help sailors in trouble on the oceans, dragging drowning sailors or lifeboats to places where they would be found and rescued.
