The Cleansed
Those who had the power to fight the Uprising head on did so without mercy. They saw the change being forced upon them and thought of the disease; the unknown creatures and plants and potential illnesses these Elves were bringing upon the world. Not only this, but they saw the threat to humanity that this new rule posed. It was only a matter of time before faekind wiped them out entirely.
And so a plan was devised. Territories were marked, zones were claimed, walls and barriers were built around them. Magic and chemistry combined and manipulated to create poisons and objects the Fae could not approach. Trainlines were built and destroyed to navigate the new areas; all trainlines leading to the claimed cities were reconstructed to contain the anti-fae poisons, ‘decontaminating’ as soon as they step off the train. New stations were built for trains leading to and from the towns and cities both Cleansed and otherwise, and these stations, doubling up as the gateways in and out of Cleansed space were guarded heavily by Cleansed soldiers.
When the Fae began their uprising they started a war. The Cleansed will fight that war to the death.
Public Agenda
“We have all heard the stories. Fairies who curse and torment humanity. Witches and nymphs who lure children into the dark and devour them. We thought these stories fictional; tales to scare us from venturing off the paths at night or explanations for our beloved lost.
“But now we know these stories to be true. Now we know the true extent of the danger at our doorstep. We fight a war against an enemy far stronger than ourselves, and their message is clear: ‘Submit to us, or die.’. And they will not stop until we are under their rule, or eradicated entirely.
“Look around you at the chaos they have brought. Look at the lives lost; the measures we have had to take just to defend ourselves. Some would call us cowards for building our closed cities. Those who seek to harm us call us “Cleansed”. Is it cowardice to offer a safe haven for humanity among this chaos? Ask the children running free and safe. Ask the refugees reunited with their families. Ask the engineers who have a secure location to learn and prepare greater defences against the fae’s vicious attacks.
“Or come and see for yourself.
“We offer safety. We offer security. We offer freedom from the violence and dominance the fae have brought upon us.”
History
The Cleansed came around in their earliest form during the original voting period of the Uprising. Initially they were simply anti-fae politicians, business owners, and others in positions of power. Their voices were the loudest of all anti-fae, rallying those in the country to vote against the Elves' proposal.
When the vote was not passed and protests became heated, the Cleansed reacted with violence. During a large protest in Central London, England, anti-fae weaponry was deployed to drive the fae away -- and war broke out. Many other countries followed suit; a worldwide organisation of violence united under the same banner.
But they were no match for the [Quealin] and their superior magic-technology. Within six months of the Uprising's initial violence, the Cleansed were pushed back to the centre of their cities until they had nowhere else to retreat -- and so they built. Walls and stations to keep the fae out were erected in the centre of every Cleansed-occupied city: firmly locked against all fae and their allies.
