Optlings

Optlings are perhaps one of the most well-known forms of Changelings, being fae children raised by human parents. However, it is not through theft of a human child that these Optlings come to be. Rather, a new fae parent may opt to gift their offspring to a human parent or parents unable to conceive a child of their own. This is an extremely rare phenomena given the fae's private and hidden nature, but a few cases have been witnessed throughout history.

Common Etiquette rules

Though clearly faekind, it is common for Optlings to consider themselves culturally human, thus preferring to be referred only as such. Some may seek to learn more about their fae ancestry but this is usually seen only in those for whom their fae blood presents great difficulties living in human conditions, such as wings or extra limbs, etc. However, these Optlings will often have the supervision and aid of their fae parent.
