Ironwood

Ironwood is natively found along the woods of Whistlegrove where it is free to grow under the protection of the local druids. Ironwood is maintained and harvested for its ability to mimic steel if properly treated and easy to enchant. It is said that wands and staffs made out of Ironwood are less likely to fail and remain under control of the caster due to being able the stress. Even though this resource is highly sought after for its military uses it is rarely sold for weapons. Most of the time it is sold for construction and defenses.   Trade vessels are the most common object made with Ironwood, usually the Owner of the vessel is doing tasks for the druids of Whistlegrove or has vowed against the use of weapons on the ship.

The wood itself is a dark mahogany with silver grain. The bark itself is hard to penetrate as it requires magic or specialized tools to harvest the bark and wood.

There is currently no recorded natural death of a Ironwood tree. It is said to keep growing as it ages.

History & Usage

Discovery

The founding of Ironwood can be said to go back to the first Archdruid who made a pact with the Fae. Asking for wood that would be able to not be cut down by man. The Fae granted his request but it is harvestable through magic.

Everyday use

The most common use is ships and for a few honored few it can be made into arms or armor.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Those who are not from Whistlegrove it is a sign of trust and for those who are residents it is a sign of respect and honor.
