Dusk's Dreams

Whenever Dusk goes to sleep, she is haunted by visions. These have been coming to her long before she was taken to Barovia, and are similar to the strange dreams her mother Skye was afflicted with before her passing. As time has gone on, the dreams have become reflective of the fates, and the companions she travels with. Within her dreamscape, Dusk has received many visitors: -The boatman, suspected to be Captain Spark's uncle, Kanya. -Ellywick Tumblestrum, a longtime patron of the Witchlight Carnival. -Groak, Ellywick's frog.   The visitors within Dusk's dreamscape seem restricted with what they can say, but by bonding with the Little Crow, Dusk has a greater control over which dream she views each night, the clarity in which she can see aspects of the dream, and the questions she can ask her visitors pertaining to the dream.   The dreamscape has changed over time. On a large body of water, surrounded by giant obelisks reflecting the original fates. As each is lost, the obelisk's have their colour bleed out into the lake. If a dream corresponds to one of the remaining fates, a glow can be seen behind the corresponding obelisk. Heavenly bodies are sometimes within the sky of the dreamscape: -A burning, red, ball of flame that casts no light. -A large, glowing, radiant blue sphere. -A sickly green orb, leaking into the sky, sometimes accompanied by smaller green orbs.   Dusk has had the following dreams while travelling Barovia: -A Dragon soars over a village, burning everything in its wake. Before it stands an army of giants, behind it leaks a stream of gold. The further it flies, the more it burns, the tighter a noose of stars wraps around its throat. (Beggar) -A giant brain looms in the sky, tendrils reaching out and plucking children from the street. They seem unaware of its presence, laughing and playing. When the tendrils pluck them, they go cold and motionless. The colour drains from their clothes, the smiles melt from their faces. They turn to you with hollowed out eyes, soundless tears streaked down their faces. (Abjurer) -Dusk floats in a black pool, all senses blank except for the deep, aching hunger. She can’t move but knows she must escape. Must break free. She screams, and her jaw distends as a physical blackness crawls out. (Miser) -Thousands of faces stare at Dusk from behind bars. She walks among them, and each one she touches melts into her. They bring her strength, confidence, and calm. But with each one the screams grow louder as mouths sprout along her body. With each one, Dusk ceases to be. (Raven) -A Death Knight trudges slowly through a crowded market as people flee, screaming. It cuts down any who wander too close, or can’t flee fast enough. Dusk knows it’s hunting for her and will never tire. (Soldier)   The "Mists" fate is unconnected to any of the heroes.
