New Jerusalem Trolleys

Trolleys are electrical trains that run on rails set in the streets. They draw electric power from special overhead wires.   The ride costs 10 cents for adults, a nickel for kids 5 to 12, and free for those under 5, plus a penny for transfers (necessary to change from one line to another). Transfers are most easily made at the main station, by the B&M depot, or in the Merchant district. The trolleys operate from 5:30 A.M. until 7 P.M. weekdays and until 9 P.M. Friday-Saturday. There is no Sunday service. Depending on the time of day, a trolley passes every 5-15 minutes.   Interurban lines, which once connected New Jerusalem with Boston and the rest of the east coast, were abandoned several years ago. However, the rails and switches still exist and would operate given power and intact cables.
