The Yellowfingers Organization in Cumae: The Orbis | World Anvil

The Yellowfingers

Fences, contraband dealers, and - especially - money launderers, bookies, and the keepers of suspicious accounting. While often accused of burglary and theft, this isn't usually the case; rather, the gangs and persons who commit those kinds of crimes work closely with the Yellowfingers in the sale of stolen goods and the moving and investing of ill-gotten money.

Identification:

Yellowfingers often have a tattoo of a small hand, palm down with fingernails indicated, and a large coin on the back of the hand.

Structure

highly structured, almost certainly connected to various corrupt bankers inside the Empire and financiers of dubious reputation abroad.

Public Agenda

The Yellowfingers feel they do a certain service, by limiting the amount of financial crime to only those parties with which they do business; losing their favor can be suicidal for a small gang that needs them to convert gems and magic items into usable coin. As such they are able to charge a small but not immaterial fee for every transaction, and thus rack up a sizeable fortune of their own for 'legitimate' investment and additional money laundering opportunities.

Assets

Clearly the Yellowfingers are able to access, if not outright control, certain banks and financial institutions through which their coinage passes. In many ways they are organized like any other company, and a good portion of their money does go to seemingly legitimate charities and the like, probably to buy favor.

History

Currently led by a savvy Halfling named 'Duck' or 'Duckling'.
