The Sunderswords

Planes-spanning weapons created in a place outside of Time, the Sunderswords were made by the Yugoloths to ensure their survival should the devils and demons ever unite to oppose them. Each one exerts fundamental influence over and confers fundamental immunity from a given aspect of reality itself.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The swords are metallic haptics projected from Carceri into the material plane, along the edge of which are suspended a hypercompressed extrusion of the lost seventh layer/sphere of Carceri. In other words, the cutting 'edge' of the blades is a sliver gate to the Prison Plane itself, which is able to slice effortlessly through most other nonmagical substances that are not resistant or immune to plane shifting. The material thus transposed is not just cut through, but that piece of the cut item is removed from the reality of its current plane and deposited at the core singularity in the heart of the 7th level of Carceri.
As if this nasty micro-disintegration wasn't bad enough, each of the swords is fully embued with additional powers over certain aspects of reality. Five of these weapons are known to exist:

• The Sword of the Cenotaph, over negative energy and undeath
• The Sword of the Carnifex, over positive energy and mortal humanoids
• The Sword of the Shaman, over beasts and the Green
• The Sword of the Malefick, over the fey
• The Sword of the Servant, over demons and devils

Theoretically there may be more, perhaps six, to match the number of layers of Carceri, or seven, to include the antiplanar seventh level of Carceri which forms the edge of the weapon; a certain meta-referential support exists for this line of thinking.

Significance

Weapons of legend forged for mostly unclear but presumably evil purposes; possession of any such weapon by a mere mortal is highly inadvisable.
