Major Construction Project Underway in Elkur Province - Orc Settlement to Relocate

Dateline: Northeastern Duchy of Elkur, Province of Khazig; 29 Tarshiviel's month, 12090: The Duke of Elkur confirmed today that the Barony of Volsin has been officially delegated to a collective of Khazigiri business and military interests connected to Camilla Engel-Rakkir, in order to stabilize the area which has been economically depressed and a hotbed of criminal activity since the closure of Volsin mine 40 years ago. Sources have confirmed that the Volsin fortress, left in disrepair after the foolhardy tax rebellion uprising several centuries ago, will be completely razed and rebuilt to the collective's specifications. Sources state that very little of the original fortress remained other than a field of tumbled keystones too large to easily transport to other building projects in the area. The plans intend to work these back into the new structures.
The Orc Settlement 'discovered' last year under the west Quags - found to have been in continuous operation for more than seven centuries and well known to the locals in that part of the Quags - will revert back to Imperial ownership as the part of the buyout deal. The Orc principals have contracted to relocate their personnel and belongings to a location to be determined near the Elkur construction. The buyout grants the ownership rights to the nitre mine within the Quags location to Governor Ethan Cazaxanes. Writers at the Post speculate this agreement is connected to Engel-Rakkir's association with the discovery of the settlement, and to the embarrassing failure of Archduke Rakkir's attempt to marry Engels Rakkir to Cazaxanes with the mine as the dowry. The Governor thus gets the mine and avoids the marriage, which threads a way out of a complicated ownership rights battle that may have turned ugly for both parties if it had been allowed to escalate. Charges against the Archduke in the Coldhorn Attack are still pending, but are anticipated to be filed before the end of Aishapriel's Month.
The Volsin Collective includes ownership of several businesses in that area, among them the Volsin Entertainment Group, ABC Wholesale and North Khazig Import Export, all of which have obvious interest in any economic revitalization efforts. The collective seeks a variety of short term and long term workers, including day laborers, artisans, civil engineering specialists, and caterers.
