Beauty Ideals
Khazigiri people find beauty in fine jewelry and jewel-tone colors, gold and gold leaf; they are generally lanky, olive skinned, and tend to have dark hair and eyes though blue and green eyes are considered more beautiful than brown. Slender arches, onion domes and s-curving architecture, and highly decorated patterns are favored, as is complex crenelating, filigree and brocade; their beauty ideal conforms to a Greek Orthodox and even Baroque adoration of decoration for the sake of decoration.
Gender Ideals
Men and women enjoy a great deal of equality, especially in the upper classes where women can take up other occupations besides childbirth, washerwoman and fishwife; women can own and inherit property, trade and run businesses, invest, perform in the fine arts, or pursue various class occupations such as Wizard or Fighter; they can hold any military or naval rank.
Additionally the city of Khazigur maintains a holy coven of Witches who are a female-only guild given the special task of guarding the city from threats within or without, and with authority to pursue criminality anywhere inside the Empire should its source take it outside of the city proper. Men can operate as Warlocks inside the guild but only at the administrative level. This goes back to an edict direct from the Angel Tarshiviel some 11,000 years ago which established the order as a basically secular, but celestial-blessed, guild with its own leadership, feast days, etc.
Courtship Ideals
Physical beauty and access to wealth are both important factors across all classes in Khazigiri courtship. Adherence to the statutes of the Celestials is ostensibly important, but bad boys and bad girls have their charms in practice. Many marriages are arranged by parents and diplomats for the purpose of strengthening long-term family power or regional security.
Relationship Ideals
Loyalty, trust, and a willingness to fight on behalf of one's friends are at the top of the list.
