2nd Note from Captain Darwill
Found after the first, but encrypted with a cypher so probably actually sent earlier in time than the note only half encrypted. Using the first as a key, the second can be translated in 1d4 hours.

Carver, have you ever heard of Astranag? It's pretty damn far from home, so I doubt it, but still.
The Whitescale Kobolds up in the mountains told me of the ruin of a goddess I'd never heard of - Oiye, not one of the Kaalengi deities now, but perhaps she once was as none of the twelve have her domain - if the Kobolds are accurate, anyway. The temple is called Astranag, built on hills along the banks of the Mudzimu. She was a goddess of life, death, and truth, maybe a sister to Inuba.
Anyway, here's the relevant part: Evidently after whatever happened, happened, the place fell into ruin and corruption and a magical tree took up residence here. The Kobold said that this tree demands some kind of ordeal, and if you complete it, then it grants your wish for power - that was the exact wording they used. Not just a wish for gold or world peace, but power. Sounds like Kurotz, right?
So I just passed by a bridge and on it, plain as day under all the vines and decay was "ASTRANAG", in Kaalengi. Pretty as you please. The Kobolds went on and on about the tree being nothing but a temptation for fools, and too dangerous a thing for anyone but the purest heart; Honestly I had forgotten all about the story until I saw the bridge.
I almost stopped; We paddled around a bit because the crew was bored and wanted an adventure, but I talked them out of it, telling them we'd visit coming back but we didn't have time for it now. They weren't happy, especially the Druid. Folmer Dusken has tried to pick an argument with me every step of the way.
Postscript: It's the next morning, and no one can find Folmer. Looks like he slipped off the boat in the dark and headed back, but we can't be sure, and I wasn't joking about there being no time for bullshit. Next time, Taron, let me pick the whole crew and not get stuck with these local amateurs.
