Airealma
From the miniscule Breeze Finch to the massive Zephyrtrain, Airealma are swift, thunderous, and carefree. Airealma are a species of air-attuned Cultivim who bodily resemble various species of bird, and universally have the ability to generate electricity.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Airealma are a birdlike species of elemental, air and lightning given physical form. They have a pair of winglike appendages, a head, and two digitigrade legs. Like all Cultivim, Airealma are invertebrates, their forms being held together by a layer of stiff sturdy scales, most of which are covered in a coat of lighter-than-air feathers.
Their innards are a series of natural electrical generators, which require constant fueling in order to stay alive. Their feathers, beaks, and talons are naturally conductive and can deliver electrical shocks, the severity of which differing depending on the size of the species.
The Airealma's internals are pressurized, and any strike that pierces the hard scales is met with a powerful gust of wind, and depending on where it's struck, a jolt of electricity.
Biological Traits
Airealma bodies are electrical dynamos and generate average voltages of about 300 Volts and upward.
Genetics and Reproduction
As elementals, Airealma are asexual and do not breed, instead they are born of tempests and electrical strikes. The duration and intensity of the storm dictates the size and species of Airealma born of it.
Ecology and Habitats
Airealma flock to electrical storms, and as such, do not generally settle down in a single area. Thanks to the abundance of electricity in cities and towns, some species nest in towns, drawing power and conductive materials wherever possible.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Airealma eat both electricity and that which conducts electricity. In antiquity, they would congregate around storms and peck at exposed ore veins. Today they're a well known pest in cities, as they have a habit of breaking into buildings and devouring copper wire, or breaking power lines and drinking electricity from them.
Biological Cycle
Airealma live as long as they can fuel their bodies. When their internal generators run out of electricity, they rapidly decompose. Some turn grey and brittle, while others become engulfed in verdigris.
Additional Information
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Airealma tend to roam around the continent, drawn to electrical storms and other severe weather. Smaller congregations can be found around cities and towns, as well.
Average Intelligence
Like all Cultivim, Airealma are intelligent.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Airealma eyesight is top-notch and they can sense both electricity and materials that conduct it.
Genetic Ancestor(s)
Scientific Name
Natura Natus Ventus
Average Weight
Airealma are incredibly light, with even the largest hardly breaking 50 lbs.
Average Length
The smallest Airealma, the Thrummingbird is no larger than a fingertip, and the largest, the Skyfall Sprinter stands at a little over 10 feet tall.
