The Verdant King

Description

As lord of The Vivid Vale, the Verdant King concerns himself with all manner of growing things, but takes a special interest in the colorful flowering plants that flourish in the vale. Woe to any human that dares to trample the King's favorite decorations, as his agents constantly tend to their wellbeing and will relentlessly hunt down such intruders. The Verdant King's magical pollen is able to boost the growth of any plant it touches, and he spends much of his time seeking out struggling specimens that need his blessing to survive. On these excursions, the King is always accompanied by an entourage of at least two Rustalks and several Solstalks.

• Instead of meditating to restore this cryture’s Health, you may have it lay in the sun for 10 minutes.

The King's Pollen

• This cryture can spend 1 Mana and Concentrate to rapidly grow a plant to full maturity and regrow any edible parts.
• This cryture can spend 1 Mana to dust all plant within a 1/2 mile radius. Any checks made to cultivate the dusted plants automatically succeed on all dice rolled.

The King's Laws

• This cryture gains 1 Enmity whenever its conjurer damages a living flower.
• This cryture gains 1 Enmity if its conjurer backs down from a challenge.

Binding

The Verdant King met his match about 20 years ago, being defeated by the combined might of Arthur Oakthorne, Lucas Loric, and Kasper Starber. Arthur bound the King in this battle and claimed The Vivid Vale as his own domain. Since then, the three men have worked together to found the town of Rootrun and its outlying villages, taking advantage of both the vale's rich soil, and The Verdant King's magic pollen to turn Rootrun into an unrivaled agricultural center. The King and Arthur share a fairly amicable bond, with both having a hand in the creation of The Viridian Order, and many of the order's magical secrets owe their origin to The Verdant King's divine inspiration.
