Shard Weaponry

Shard Weaponry is the primary weapon ranged weapon used by the Ybern. They all operate around the same general mechanism as a Rail-Gun, firing clusters of metal shards filled with Cyberphage. Upon impact or penetration, the shards shatter into countless splinters, each one capable of of causing the Ybern infection.

Types of Shard Weapons

• Shard Pistol - The Shard Pistol is a common weapon amongst Ybern forces. Traditional use is as a backup weapon that is either carried like a traditional sidearm or is implanted in or attached to their bodies. Ybern assassins othen use it when long ranged slayings are unfeasible.
• Shard Rifle - The most common weapon in the Ybern armory, the Shard Rifle is used on nearly every battlefield seen by Ybernan forces. It is the standard weapon of choice for many types of Ybern Warriors. The weapon is lightweight and usually sports Bayonet-Injectors for added functionality in melee combat. It features a medium sized ammunition magazine to reduce weight while still maintaining a decent amount of ammo before the user needs to reload.
• Shard Streamer - A heavier model of Shard Rifle designed for full automatic firing, It can firing without out end if belt fed, otherwise they must be reloaded as normal.
• Shard Cannon - The heaviest model of Shard weapon carried by infantry or mounted on vehicled. They are designed for and excel at effective and accurate firing on the move.

Utility

The only use for shard weaponry is the slaying of defenders and spreading the Ybernan Cyberphage infection.

Manufacturing

Only the Ybern know how they make their weapons, and the only way to learn how is to join them, due to risk of Cyberphage infection.

Due to the risk of infection, only the Ybern use Shard weaponry, and it is a common item in their arsenal.

Complexity

Because of the risks involved in studying Ybern technology, only they know the specifics of its workings, though it being based on rail weaponry has helped then gain their limited understanding of it.

Discovery

The discovery, or creation of splinter weaponry can from a desire to create a weapon that can equally lethal and capable of spreading the Ybern Cyberphage.
