Androids are Droids made to resemble Humans or other sentient species closely. This sets them apart from Scrapdroid and the Gaige, which are generally quite recognizable as droids.

Starfinder Mechanics:

+2 Dex Upgrade Slot: Synths have a single armor upgrade slot in their bodies. Regardless of whether or not they are wearing physical armor, they can use this slot to install any one armor upgrade that could be installed into light armor.
