The Secret Lair

This article/category is for a project that I started a few years ago. Some of the information may be contradictory while I try to decipher my old writing. Thank you for your patience.
The Secret Lair is a mysterious, ever-shifting underground bunker created by the Wizard, who has since passed. It is now run by the Owner, the Wizard's grandson. However, the Owner is unfamiliar with the Lair, and so has hired a number of Employees to explore and map out the rooms of the Lair for him. He is fully aware of the dangers of this job, and so does not assist directly himself.

Purpose / Function

The original purpose of the Lair is unknown, said to be hidden by the Wizard somewhere within its halls. However, the Lair attempts to obscure these intentions, trying to prevent people from exploring it.

Defenses

The Lair is intended to prevent outsiders from interfering with its purpose. The measures that it takes to do so are threefold: people within the Lair's memories are affected simply by proximity, as it tries to adjust the previous experiences of the people within it to misguide them. As some have begun to keep diaries due to this issue, the Lair also has measures to prevent those inside it from escaping with the knowledge of the Lair. Its corridors become confusing and maze-like to anyone attempting to exit, and its rooms even deadlier. Lastly, those who do manage to exit do so with a permanently foggy memory, unless undone by the owner of the Lair.

Contention Surrounding the Lair

There have been a few rumours circulating that the Lair was not intended to fall under the ownership of the Owner once the Wizard dies. Whispers spread of a person who intends to claim the Lair from his grasp, preventing him from taking over the lair and using it for his own nefarious gains.
