Raz Tinkertail the "Trashificer"

Class: Rogue (Arcane Trickster) / Artificer (Artillerist) Alignment: Chaotic Good Background: Urban Scavenger     ---   Appearance   Raz Tinkertail is a small, wiry raccoonfolk with a patchy, striped tail that is always twitching with excitement. His fur is a mix of gray and black, often streaked with smudges of grease and soot from his tinkering. His bright, mischievous eyes are always darting about, searching for new treasures to add to his ever-growing collection. Raz wears a patchwork outfit made of scavenged cloth and leather, adorned with mismatched buttons, clock gears, and shiny baubles. Perched on his head is a battered top hat with goggles strapped around the brim.   Raz’s pride and joy is a pocket watch he found in an abandoned workshop. He has cobbled together extra gears, wires, and magical runes, convinced it can manipulate time itself.     ---   Personality   Eccentric: Raz is a bundle of energy, always talking at a rapid pace and jumping from one idea to the next. He is endlessly curious and easily distracted by anything shiny or unusual.   Inventive: Though his methods are unorthodox, Raz is surprisingly ingenious, creating gadgets and contraptions from discarded items.   Optimistic: Raz firmly believes there’s no problem that can’t be solved with enough creativity, duct tape, and “the power of trash.”   Superstitious: Raz is absolutely convinced that his “Time-Bender Pocket Watch” can stop time, though its effects are often coincidental or misunderstood.       ---   Backstory   Raz grew up in the bustling city of Cogsborough, surviving as a scavenger in its labyrinthine alleys and junkyards. From an early age, he had a knack for tinkering with discarded objects, turning junk into something useful—or at least entertaining. One day, he stumbled upon an ornate but broken pocket watch in a derelict clockmaker's shop. After months of fiddling and "improvements," Raz became convinced it could bend time itself.   His obsession with the watch led him to study both mechanical engineering and rudimentary arcane magic, making him a hybrid of rogue cunning and artificer ingenuity. Now, Raz travels the world collecting scraps, trinkets, and magical oddities, always on the lookout for the next big discovery to prove his theories about time manipulation.   ---   Signature Item: "The Time-Bender Pocket Watch"   Appearance: A brass pocket watch covered in additional gears, wires, and runes. It emits a faint ticking sound, even when it’s not wound.   Abilities (as Raz perceives them):   Time Stop (Raz's Interpretation): By dramatically pressing a button on the watch and shouting, "TIME FREEZE!" Raz creates a loud ticking sound (a harmless Thaumaturgy effect) and an elaborate light display (Prestidigitation).   True Effect: The watch sometimes delays enemy reactions (casts Slow once per day) or grants Raz a burst of speed (casts Expeditious Retreat once per day).         ---   Quirks   Insists on narrating his actions as if he’s a great inventor: “And now, with the twist of this lever, behold—time itself bends to my will!”   Regularly “barters” with junk vendors by swapping useless trinkets he claims are “one-of-a-kind magical artifacts.”   Collects random buttons, bottle caps, and broken tools, claiming they are "the key to the ultimate invention."       ---   Goals and Motivations   Short-Term Goal: To demonstrate the “true” power of his pocket watch by stopping time in front of an audience.   Long-Term Goal: To create the ultimate contraption capable of proving his theory that “trash is treasure.”   Personal Conflict: While Raz’s creations are often effective, he struggles with the line between genius and delusion, leading to moments of doubt.
