A rebel band enlists the Obsidian Phoenix to rebel against its oppressive lord.

The Phoenix judges the Lord truly unjust and assists in their battle. However, once the Lord has been deposed, the rebels turn on the Phoenix, hoping to enslave it as a guardian for their new territory. The Phoenix destroys half of the rebels and burns much of the area, including much of the disputed city, leaving the rebels to contemplate the danger of trying to control the uncontrollable.
