Lord Protector
Lord Protectors are people who are in control of a sector of the Etrian Empire. They are appointed by the King, and have power over anyone living in their sector, normally constituting of a settlement and the area around it. They officially have the second most amount of power in the Etrian empire, and only five have ever been disposed of, four of them to be killed, one of them was disposed of due to it being discovered that she was a woman.
Lord Protectors can only be men, due to laws which are sometimes considered outdated, however, they can obtain the secondary position of Lady Protector, which is what the fifth Lord Protector to be disposed of was demoted to.
The other four Lord Protectors were disposed of due to joining a revolution, not being the person he claimed to be and instead being a revolutionary, pitying a thief and not incarcerating her but rather giving her bread, and finally, for ignoring a protest, possibly due to not being aware that it was going on.
Most people respect Lord Protectors, however there's always a minority of people who rebel against them, and in extension, the Etrian empire. Therefore, people should keep an eye on their neighbours and report anyone to the Lord Protector, or anyone who can get in contact with a Lord Protector.
