Nythrim (Nihf-rim)

Demographics

Elves and humans make up the majority of the population, though many of the businesses, particularly the town's assortment of taverns, are owned by Halflings as extensions of the Brewers Guild.  The Middle and upper classes of the town are mainly Elven naval officers or merchants, or members of the Order of Alfred.  There are many humans in the higher earning categories, merchants and military staff, as well as business owners, that make up the wealth of the Town. The Lower classes are predominantly human, but due to the nature of the town being a Trade hub and heavily in tune with the natural world and its surroundings, the lower earning classes live in agreeable conditions in pleasant areas, with no slums in sight.

Government

Council of Nythrim The Council consists of leading members of the Trade Companies, as well as representatives of the High Elven Council from the Capital of Thyatalos. Laws and by extension, taxation, was all in line with the Capital's demands.  Though, taxes are mainly gained through tariffs, and Nythrim is the largest port and thus the largest income provider to the entire Feydom.

Defences

The Port sits inside a natural cove.  Stretching out from it are two curved cliffs, like arms they shield the port and town from the open sea.  Inside the cove, on the mountains directly next to the jetties themselves, lie stone walls, with ballistae and so recently cannons, pointing out to the entrance to the cove.  It is Garrisoned by the recently established volunteer "Nythrim Defence Militia".   The Temples of the Paladins are also very close to Nythrim, and they provide immediate Defence when needed, as happened during the Invasion of Dire.

Infrastructure

Nythrim's pride is its docks.  A huge collection of ships of all sizes are a a regular site, with Nythrim's assortment of Trade Companies, including The Dayern Company, a private trading Company with a simple instruction: Make money by trade. The Dayern Navy is also a regular visitor to the port, checking merchantmen for contraband and stowaways, as well as simply stopping off for leave and supplies.    Though not part of Nythrim geographically, just a few miles down the coast is a large Cave, disguised by the rocks and trees that drape over its entrance.  Inside, lies the better part of the Dayern Fleet.  Larger Vessels were often stationed at the Capital as they could not fit inside the cavern, and as symbols of Dayern power.  Just outside the Cave is the main Dayern Dockyard, in which both the Merchant and Military Navies are built and commissioned.  Again, shielded by the surrounding rocks and vegetation. The Streets follow no organisation, they wind where the trees grew, that is, the buildings, which are of course all large trees.

Architecture

The Architecture is entirely tree based.  Many buildings are interconnected by the branches which are hollowed out to form tunnels. The Town is shaded by its enormous Green Canopy, but light gets through to the streets, as the sky is left open directly along their routes.

Natural Resources

There is not shortage of natural resources, as the nearby forest of Dire covers the whole Island, and is maintained by the Order.
