The Story So Far - Chronicle Summary

Chapter One

The Coterie was called to the Sheriff’s Office and was asked to investigate the missing Toreador Primogen, Sophie. Since Quinton and Jax are both Hounds, and Sophie was once their Coterie-Mate, they have been selected for this. To aid them in their mission, Tala of Clan Ravnos and Douglas of Clan Toreador were selected. The Coterie were able to discover that Primogen Sophie was kidnapped by her Sire and the Freedom Fighters, after they had released him from Sophie’s imprisonment. After weeks of torture, Sophie was killed by her Sire, Simon. The Coterie confronted the Freedom Fighters and Simon, which resulted in Simon’s death and confirmation of Sophie’s death. After completing their task to find the Primogen and reported to the Prince, the Prince asked the Coterie to investigate a mysterious shipment that was arriving in Port Whittaker in the coming nights. The Coterie split up into a Boarding Party and a Land Party. The Land Party discovered FBI agents waiting for the shipment to arrive on the Docks. The Boarding Party discovered there were several more agents on board the ship, as well as an Inquisitorial Hunter. Having been caught boarding the ship, the Coterie was unable to discern what the Shipment was due to a massive fight happening. The Coterie was rescued by Primogen Hyram Hallson and Yasmin the Black. Douglas’ ghoul Carter had been waiting on the Docks to act as an emergency escape, and he was able to see that the shipment was electronic equipment. Which was all that the Coterie learned. The Coterie reported what they learned to the Prince and the Primogen Council, who were very unimpressed. The Prince placed Primogen Willow Cromwell of Clan Ventrue in charge of the Second Inquisition investigation since Quinton’s Bois proved to be too inept for the job. Having made a mess of their previous mission for the Prince, and now knowing that the Second Inquisition is in town, the Coterie sought out allies among the Kindred. The best way to secure Allies, is to secure Boons. They connected with another Coterie named The Faded Divine, who hold Domain over the Redford Cemetery. The Faded Divine explained that there is a Coterie of Archons named The Shadow Council who are trying to pressure the Faded Divine to give up their claim over the Redford Cemetery. The Faded Divine requested the Coterie’s Aid in fighting back against the Archons. They offered a Major Boon for each method of intervention the Coterie were able to implement that offered major assistance to the Faded Divine’s cause. The Faded Divine also accepted owing Quinton’s Bois a Minor boon in exchange for feeding rights within Quinton’s Bois domain. The Coterie got to work using their influences and other resources to help the Faded Divine. They initiated rumors of Corporations trying to purchase the Cemetery so they can build over the top of it, and then initiated protests for this Rumor. This led to an ongoing clash of Protestors and Police around the area of the Redford Cemetery. A few weeks later, the Coterie learned that the FBI had arrested a bunch of people from the Crescent City Police Department, under the guise of corruption. The majority of the arrested people were either Ghouls, or mortal individuals directly under the control of a Kindred. While unable to do anything about the attack on their influences, the Coterie decided to investigate the missing Werewolf child, as it would earn them a Major Boon from the Primogen of Clan Tremere. Quinton learned that the Kid was still hiding in the Underground from one of his Contacts in the area, so the Coterie travelled there to investigate. While following a Premonition, a red string led Quinton’s Bois to a secret door leading into the Labyrinth. Once in the Labyrinth, they followed the trail to a dead-end area that opened into a cave. Once inside, the entrance to the caved vanished behind them. They saw a large sigil covering the majority of the floor, made of a dark, awful smelling thick black substance. In the center of the Sigil was the head of the Kid they were looking for. Despite their best efforts to save the kid, he was sucked down into the earth, presumably dead. Quinton saw large bestial Shadows emerging from the walls of the caves, and the coterie began to panic about how to get out. Douglas had a vision of these large shadows swaying around the room as if they were dancing in a ritualistic manner, and it caused him to begin swaying and dancing just as the shadows were. Before the shadows could manifest into a physical form, Echo appeared from the entrance that had disappeared, and beckoned the Coterie to follow him out. The Werewolf Kid showed up at the Coterie’s Haven, covered in blood and gore, and had several lacerations on his body. The Kid collapsed in the Butler’s arms, as the Coterie came running into the room after hearing the Butler shout. Upon seeing Quinton, the Kid said “you… help….” And then passed out. After cleaning and patching the kid up, they moved him into Quinton’s room, which was one of the padded psych room of the hospital haven. Via the Coterie’s Disciplines, they learned that the Kid was harboring immense hatred for Dr. Crucio and Primogen Simms, and that these feelings were being amplified by some kind of Spirit that seemed to be attached to his soul. The Coterie then woke the kid up with smelling salts, where they learned he had been held captive by the Coterie named Silver Wrath for about 5 months, where the Malkavian Dr. Crucio and the Tremere Primogen Marcus Simms was experimenting on him the entire time. The Kid said he managed to escape and ran into the Underground to hide. The Nosferatu named Arachne who is apart of the Silver Wrath, eventually found the kid in the Underground. She tricked him into chasing her into the Labyrinth. Before she could lead him back to Dr. Crucio’s lab, they were ambushed by a group of Black Spiral Dancers (Werewolves). Arachne escaped but they took the Kid captive. The Kid said he couldn’t remember much past the sensation of his blood being on fire, and then the darkness and nightmares of the Ritual that the Black Spiral Dancers performed. The Coterie then learned that one of the results of the Ritual the kid was in, he was able to use his hatred for Dr. Crucio and Primogen Marcus Simms to track down Quinton and Jax, since the two of them tried to save him from the Ritual. Though the Kid was confused why they would help him, when it was their Sires who was torturing him. The Kid was anxious to return to the Lab to rescue the several other kids that Dr. Crucio and Primogen Simms had locked up there. The Kid then passed out before they could learn any more. The Coterie called the “A-Team” who are the Coterie’s collection of Ghouls and had the A-Team babysit the Kid while they went to visit Yasmin the Black to get information about the Spirit in the Kid and the Shadows the Black Spiral Dancers were involved with. Yasmin was able to inform the kids that the Black Spiral Dancers had bound a Bane Spirit to his soul, and that it couldn’t be removed with out killing the Kid, since they are now intertwined. They learned these Spirits are naturally attracted to mortals with immense emotions, and that once bound to Mortals, they feed off the emotions. The Bane Spirit will then drive the Mortal to do anything they can to achieve their deepest desires that are linked to the strong emotions, so that the Spirit can continue to feed. Yasmin informed the group that the BSD pulled the Spirit from the Spirit Realm and bound it to the kid, which converts them into a servant of the BSD (and the Wyrm). She advised that they go speak with a member of the Hecata Clan who are Necromancers to learn more. Instead of going to see the Hecata, they went back to their Haven and began planning on what to do next. While discussing what their options are for what to do with the Kid, such as return him to Primogen Simms as originally requested, or return him to the Werewolves. During their discussion, Quinton was hit by a Premontion showing 2 notable scenes. The first showed the Kid back at Dr. Crucio’s lab where the Kid has mutated into a bulbous, lumpy monstrosity with black charred skin. The Kid was standing above a few piles of ash with several dead Ghoul Security Guards thrown around the room. The second scene showed the Coterie handing the Kid back to the Werewolves. This scene shifted to the Coterie standing on the roof of a building in the center of town with their hands bound in chains. The Chains led up to the massive foreboding Resolute Tower where the Prince resides. They initially noticed that Resolute Tower was crumbling. As they looked around the city they saw that building throughout the city were also crumbling. The Coterie finally decided that they would use the Kid as a weapon to get rid of Dr. Crucio and hopefully their other enemy, the Ventrue Primogen Willow Cromwell at the same time. Instead of handing the Kid over to Dr. Crucio themselves, they decided to let the Kid free since the Coterie was sure that the Kid would track down Dr. Crucio for revenge. The Coterie went to the Sheriff’s Office to report that they saw a Werewolf breaking into Dr. Crucio’s lab and to grab gear to go help. Meanwhile, they allowed the kid to believe he was breaking out of the Haven, where he immediately went to the Lab. The Coterie was joined by the Sherriff as they raced to the Lab. They arrived to find the Kid standing over multiple piles of ash and corpses like in the vision. They immediately killed the Kid, but in the fight Douglas had a bestial failure, which caused his compulsion to take over. Douglas ran to the Kid’s body trying to “fix it” but the Kid was then finished off by Jax. Douglas remained distraught over the loss of his “Masterpiece” while the rest of the Coterie went to the Security Office. Before arriving at the Security Office, they found Dr. Crucio’s corpse lying on the ground in Torpor. Quinton and Jax immediately diablerized him while Saoirse and Tala ran to the Security Office and destroyed any and all evidence. After the Diablerie of Dr. Crucio, they found a room with several cells holding roughly 20 Werewolf Kinfolk ranging from ages of 8ish to early 20’s, and a few Werewolves that were barely in their 20’s. The Coterie came up with a plan to change the group’s memories so that it was the Second Inquisition torturing them, and not Kindred. They pitched their idea to Sheriff Aiden who had Baron Vincent Dane come to the Lab so he could make the final call on what to do with the kids. The Baron liked and agreed with the Coteries plan, but knew that altering the memories of this many people would take a long time. So, the Baron informed the Coterie that he would have the Tremere take the Kids to one of their special Blacksites where they will alter the memories of all of the kids while keeping them safe and out of the way. The Sheriff proceeded to take over cleaning up the Lab and transferring the kids, and he allowed the Coterie to head out.

Chapter Two

The Story continues after a several week time jump
The Coterie spent time reflecting on their Humanity and trying to ground themselves again. During this time, Saoirse met with Minister Eli who introduced her to his Salubri contact who would be able to take over as her Mawla on the road to Golconda. The Salubri taught Saoirse about the history of Kindred, going back as far as the creation myths involving Caine. To aid Saoirse in her journey to Golconda, she gave Saoirse a magical brand which would help her know when she might be making a major mistake that would set her off the path of Golconda forever. The Brand would cause immense pain, both physically and emotionally, which would prevent her from committing whichever act it was that would cause her to lose her way. Before leaving, the Salubri managed to use his healing powers to restore one of Saoirse’s lost dots of Humanity. During the time jump, Jax learned that his Daughter had FBI agents following her and conducting surveillance on her house. Jax learned that the Second Inquisition who is embedded within and controlling the FBI, had at least 1 picture of Jax from the meeting in session 1 with the Freedom Fighters. Since Jax faked his death when he was embraced, the Second Inquisition had the FBI begin investigating Jax’s Daughter under the cover of Jax faking his own death so that he could get involved in organized crime. Jax has a mortal who had been helping keep an eye on his daughter. Jax had this guy inform the neighborhood watch in his Daughter’s neighborhood about a creepy car that was sitting outside his daughter’s house. This led to a gang of Karins to come out when an FBI Agent arrived outside Jax’s Daughter’s house and to confront the Agent. The Agent left for the night, but with their cover blown, the FBI raided the Daughter’s house and arrested her. After several days, Jax’s daughter was still in FBI custody, and had been transferred to the FBI Facility that is located on the very north side of town. Jax had Quinton use fleshcrafting a Dementation to convert a crack head into a Jax look-alike who believe he had always looked like Jax and that “they” were coming to get him. The plan was to send him to rob a bank so that he would get caught by the FBI, which would show that the person in the picture was this look alike. Quinton learned that his touchstone, Penny the Volunteer was struggling. The various organizations that Penny volunteers at were beginning to struggle and be negatively effected by a major increase in crime where they are located, which is causing Penny to be stressed. As a response to this, Quinton convinced the Coterie to dress up with him as “The Dizzy League of Good” to go fight crime in Sunrise Point where Penny and her organizations are located. Quinton was dressed as “Dizzy-Q” Jax was dressed as “Dark Storm” and Saoirse was dressed as “The Juicer” (because she had a backpack with multiple car batteries to juice up Jax’s lightning.). With permission from the Sheriff, the Dizzy League of Good stole a jeep/truck thing and went into Sunrise Point. The Coterie impressed the Sisters of Iron, who are one of the street gangs, and was sent to interfere with their rival’s business. The Rival was the Blighted Legion, and they had a house where they would store a lot of the illegal weapons, explosives, and human trafficking victims. The Dizzy League of Good found the Blighted Legion’s storehouse, and convinced the gang to go downtown for Pizza via the use of Dominate and Mass Manipulation. Quinton learned by doing this that the leader of the gang that was present at the house was a Ghoul since he was able to try to resist, but failed. The Dizzy League found the basement full of contraband and victims. After gaining the trust of the Victims that they were there to help, the Coterie freed the victims from their chains. Saoirse ordered a large Uber and used it to escort the victims to an old sex worker contact of hers who would be able to keep the victims safe and get them taken care of. Meanwhile, Quinton and Jax loaded up their stolen vehicle with contraband. Just as Quinton and Jax finished loading everything up, Tala arrived to help out. Just after Tala’s arrival Quinton told Jax to use his lightning on the remaining contraband that they wouldn’t be able to take with them, which Jax promptly did without question. Unfortunately this caused a massive explosion as the lightning hit a few cases of explosives such as grenades, several cases of ammunition, and several different chemicals. Jax got to cover but Quinton was hit by the explosion and was thrown across the room for 4 Aggravated Damage. With the basement now in flames, and the ceiling having collapsed blocking the stairs which was the only exit, Quinton fell into a terror frenzy. As a result of Quinton’s frenzy, his buried second personality named Momo took control. She accessed the power of Oblivion to create wings of darkness, which she began to wrap herself in. Quinton was able to briefly take control with enough time to grab onto Jax and flesh meld his arms to Jax. When Momo took back control, she finished wrapping herself and now Jax in shadow wings, and used Shadow Jump to get safely outside by their vehicle. Since Momo didn’t have access to Quinton’s powers of fleshcrafting, and would be unable to drive or do much of anything with Jax melded to her arms, she gave Quinton back control. The two of them were able to promptly escape. Tala had gone around back to try to get Jax and Quinton free of the burning building, but by the time she broke a hole into the house, the pair were in the front yard. She could hear the two of them loudly yelling about what happened so she returned to them. As the sounds of sirens approached in the distance, the group got in their cars and escaped the scene. The Coterie reconvened at their Haven and unloaded the contraband. Jax then made it known to the entire Coterie that he has a daughter and she was arrested by the FBI and is being held in the FBI facility outside of town. The Coterie knew they were being sent to the facility for the Werewolf mission, so they decided to wait until the Sheriff gave them the plan to infiltrate the location. While completing the Werewolf mission, they would rescue Jax’s daughter at the same time. The Coterie had a few nights to recover/heal from the explosion and prepare for infiltrating a Second Inquisition facility. They met with the Sheriff who provided Quinton’s Bois with the intel that the Silver Wrath had gathered in previous weeks. They were provided images of a facility that has massive stone walls, with watch towers surrounding a huge mansion. Between the Mansion and the Cement wall was a second perimeter made of a chain link fence with barbed wire. Immediately surrounding the mansion were several courtyards consisting of gardens, a tennis court, workout equipment, and other such recreational equipment. The SI were sending another group of Ghouls to the Facility in the following night. The transport would be a single vehicle, so the plan was to take it and use it to infiltrate the base. After using flesh crafting to change their appearances, they were ready. The Coterie ambushed the vehicle as it was at one of the intersections going through their Domain. Tala used Fata Morgana to make the Mortals believe a teargas grenade went through the windshield, and began smoking them out. The Agents jumped out of the vehicle panicking and tried to radio for help, but the coterie activated a radio jammer that the Nosferatu provided them. Saoirse and her ghoul Philly came up behind the Driver and his Security Guard and put them in a sleeper hold to knock them out. The Thin-Blood that was sent with them took one of the uniforms from the Agent with the keys and got in to drive them. Quinton opened the back and let 3 of the prisoners run free, and told the others that they would be free once they finish their mission. One of the prisoner Ghouls took the place of the Security Guard in the passenger seat, while the rest of the Coterie climbed in the back to act like prisoners and then they drove to the Facility. They made it passed the gate security and were taken to the back of the mansion. They were then escorted to an elevator which took them to the basement of the facility which had multiple cells in it. After a few minutes, FBI Agent Smith arrived in the basement with Douglas by his side, to tell them what was going to happen to them now. Agent Smith let the Coterie know that they were aware of what the Coterie was (assuming they were Ghouls) and that they were brought to the facility to be “treated”. They had to complete paperwork consenting to being “treated” because refusal to consent to treatment resulted in death. After completing paperwork the Coterie was free to walk freely, and Agent Smith asked Douglas to show them around before he left. Once upstairs Douglas showed them to the bathrooms on the first floor, where they were able to speak freely. Douglas had been sent in a couple of days early to get a head start on gathering intel, because the Sheriff trusted he could get away with it with his immense power of Presence. He told the Coterie that the Labs in the 2 Subbasements and the 4th and 5th floors were off limits except for Staff, or while escorted by Staff. While discussing what they should do since they had to gather as much information as possible and get out in the same night, an Air Raid Siren began to go off. Douglas shared that this alarm was for when a prisoner was attempting to escape.
