Brujah Gauntlet

The foundations of the gauntlet were once used as training tools for battle and for similar uses like the Spartan agoge in the dark and middle ages. Camarilla Brujah are primarily involved in The Gauntlet, although it is acceptable for any Brujah with great pride in their clan to be in attendance or be called into a Gauntlet with the exception of Sabbat. However, on a rare occasion, a Sabbat Brujah, who has proven to be an active member in strengthening clan matters over and over again would be able to attend, but would of course be met with an incredible amount of scrutiny and exceptions would be something of an extreme. The Gauntlet is not used as a means to kill someone although sometimes that does happen. The Gauntlet is used to allow those who feel harmed by the actions of the accused to get their frustrations out as well as to measure the worthiness and resolve of the Brujah in question. If you survive, the matter is at an end and the Brujah as a whole have no ill will lingering amongst them.  Rules and ways are kept private and exclusively to the Brujah alone and this is used to resolve issues quickly and simply.

Calling a Gauntlet:

Any Brujah is able to call a Gauntlet who claims to have knowledge of the wrongdoing of another Brujah. This person takes the position of "Accuser" and may not take place in the Gauntlet. To institute a Gauntlet the Accuser must step forward during a Rant and make his argument. The accused, then known as the "Solitarian" may refute the charge or may attempt a sort of settlement, if possible. Once a Gauntlet is called it is passed off to the eldest or most respected member of the Brujah in the area who then acts as a second to the accused and a witness to bear judgment. He or she is referred to as the "Advocate". If the accused runs or flees the Advocate then stands in judgment of the accused and will deem him or her untrustworthy and disreputable. If the accused is killed or a violation of the rules occurs then it is the decision of the Advocate to cast punishment on the Brujah who committed the violation.

Evidence:

No actual evidence is needed for an accusation, however if used excessively the Brujah in question would be thought of in poor taste and those in the clan would grow suspicous of his or her actions or motives. Again, this accusation does not need to be true or proven to have a gauntlet be called, and if a Brujah in question feels it is unjust, a counter-accusation can be made.

Rules:

  1. A Brujah calls the Gauntlet, and all Brujah, no matter the sect show up to take part.
  2. The accused individual, known as the "Solitarian" walks through a row of Brujah, who attack him or her with brawl-type attacks.
  3. Each Brujah in the lines get one hit.
  4. If the Solitarian manages to walk out of the line without being torpored the matter in question is considered closed and he or she may even gain status.
  5. Those in attendance stand in 2 row lines with the exception of the Advocate and the Accuser.
  6. The Solitarian cannot be forced through the Gauntlet and if they refuse to go through, they may not be harmed. However, all Brujah know this is essentially a non-option, as they would be deemed a coward, an outcast and unrecognized in the clan until they redeem themselves.
  7. No manipulation can be used to force a Brujah to hit another Brujah. Discplines like Dread gaze or other supernatural actions are considered a gross breach of the rules and whoever uses them will be attacked in turn by the Advocate.
  8. No weapons may ever be used in a Gauntlet. If anyone is foolish enough to try to use a weapon, the entire clan would be in uproar at the outrage and again the advocate would attack the foolish user.
  9. No one can aid the Solitarian through the gauntlet, as this would bring dishonor to the tradition as well as the Solitarian. Those who attempt to aid will be dealt with by the Advocate but not attacked though they themselves could be called into a Gauntlet.
  10. NO ONE can INTENTIONALLY kill a Brujah in the Gauntlet.
  11. Once the solitarian in question has exited the line still standing, which is generally unlikely given the base set of Brujah disciplines he or she earns respect among their peers and the matter is then solved instantaneously. Anyone who then attempts to harm the Solitarian can be expected to be met with force dealt by -all- in attendance.
