Altinum

The Altinum were a precursor culture that formed on the mainland. The Altinum were unique in that they were the most united of the the three precursor cultures. The Altinum belonged to a very bureaucratic empire that spanned the continent and reached out into the sea. Their capital was named Cambria and sat on the western coast of the mainland. Accounts of the city claim it to be the largest city of its time, and if some accounts are correct, maybe even ever. The Altinum established colonies deep into desert areas previously believed to be uninhabitable and on islands far into the ocean.   Stories vary, but most literature that remains from Altinum authors speak of magical and technological wonders unheard of by modern day scholars. Their is much debate about whether the literature is fact or fiction. Some of the accounts detail ships that glide through the air like they would the ocean, and large portals that could transport someone from one location to the next instantaneously.

Descendants

Unfortunately a disaster struck their empire that many historians believe was actually a tsunami. This disaster would only leave ruins of many of Altinum’s major cities and completely destroy their capital. Because of this much of Altinum’s knowledge was lost and the location of its capital remains a mystery to this day. Some historians theorize that the great disaster is related to the calamity detailed by the Takamoto people, showing that the event they described may have been a global event and not just a regional disaster. The descendants of the Altinum people would go on to form three major cultures still present in the world:   The northern most remnants of the Altinum people would lose all of the comforts and technology they had become so accustomed to. Those who stuck together and did not travel inland and integrate themselves with the Hilverdoorn tribes would instead work to reforge their once great empire. They and their descendants would go on to build the empire from the ground up, obsessed with preserving their culture. These people would form the Castran culture.   The Altinum people that were in the island colonies when the disaster struckwould form the Myris culture

/*The Altinum people that were in the island colonies when the disaster struck were forced to rebuild from almost nothing. The colonies were freshly established when it struck and had relied heavily on imports from the mainland to survive. This off shoot of the Altinum people were forced into a much more basic and natural way of living for a period. The natural life they endured instilled a inquisitive and philosophic nature in them. These people would form the Myris culture.*/

Those who resided in the desert colony would form the Al-Hudacha culture.

/*Those who resided in the desert colony watched in horror as their city sunk into the sand beneath their feet. Those who survived wandered the desert for over two weeks before being led to salvation through divine intervention. An angel supposedly led them to an oasis where they would thrive and grow for years. The angel presence made even the saddest of the survivors smile. From that point onward the survivors fanatically dedicated themselves to two things. Worshipping the gods who saved them, and creating brilliant pieces of art to celebrate the gods. These people would form the Al-Hudacha culture.*/
