Session 3: Dinner with Danger Report

General Summary

Heavens made a call by the manse of House Ledaal and was introduced to Ledaal Song, who was mildly helpful and claimed that the most detailed information on Five Days of Darkness would be found at the Heptagram. She also explained some of the responsibilities and opportunities that were available to Dynasts. Kai'hua discovered a secretive ninja spying on her when she returned to her quarters, who fled upon being discovered. Discussing this with Heavens and Galit, they decided to hold for the moment, rather than give away too much info. Mishal spent the afternoon at the Cathak Foundry, having a sword tended to. The Children were invited to a meal with Mnemon herself in the Cathak dining hall, a stressful series of courses in which Mnemon attempted to dig as much information out of the Children as she could while providing very little in return. Afterwards, Galit, Fengrao and Mishal decided to take a trip out to the Foundry to retrieve Fengrao's sword - it had been polished, sharpened and the hilt re-wrapped with sharkskin. Mae suggested they go out for a drink to relieve tension after the meal with Mnemon, which was reluctantly agreed to by Galit and Fengrao, and enthusiastically by Mishal. Upon arriving at the Silent Princess, they discovered there was a no-weapons policy in effect, an issue since Galit had brought his daiklave and Fengrao still had her own. Mae and Mishal on the other hand got in with no trouble - Fengrao, refusing to be outmaneouvred, found a back entrance and confronted Mishal, who refused to back down. Fengrao left in a huff, leaving Mishal to make his mistakes. Back at the Cathak manse, after everyone had gone to sleep, Kai'hua got out of bed and started keeping watch, which paid off when she sighted the ninja making a supernatural entrance through a third floor window. The ninja was found in Fengrao's room, standing upside down on the ceiling, and refused to leave when pressed - but when Kai'hua went on the offensive, the ninja struck back with blinding speed and power and fled the premises. Using her powers, Kai summoned the Children who were sleeping to the communal dream to discuss the appearance of the Ninja - the Children agreed that the matter needed to be investigated, and mentioned breaching the topic with Cainan. The next morning, the Children were appointed to meet with the Imperial Regent, Tepet Fokuf. Fokuf proved to be a barely capable, half-senile elderly man who is heavily assisted by his guard, Tepet Shang. On the way out of the Imperial Palace, the Children had a stack of invitations to various House events shoved upon them by a Cathak messenger.
