Essence

The energy of all things, reality is created of and by essence. The swirling formless currents of it suffuse the Wyld, and it's energy was used by the Primordials to create and sustain Creation.
Though being made of it, mortals cannot normally manipulate it; they are only subject to the laws of reality created with it. When a mortal is exalted, they gain the ability to manipulate essence and become Exalted. There is normally a colorless aura of energy around all life called an anima, and when the Exalted begin to channel essence it can spill out and make this anima visible.
Also called breath. Immortal beings that can control and channel essence are called Spirits, when mortal they are called Exalted.
