Demographics

There is a fairly even split between Elves Humans and Half-Elves. Dwarves are common, Gnomes and Halfings have small communities. Most races are represented and allowed to live and travel in Wellspring.

Defences

Wellspring is one of the most dependable settlements next to the Farshade Fortress.   Walls are designed to defend against Giants. The Original wall sections are designed to repel dragons, demons and gods. There is a vast underground and tunnel system that is capable of housing an entire army as well as large scale siege equipment that could hold a Giant or Dragon Army at bay. Most of these heavy defenses are only know to the Binded Families .   the towers that surround the city are high and have build in siege equipment. The Mountain that the city backs against has a platoe above however this platue backs onto a near vertical cliff face that rises up more that 1200 feet. Few if any enemies can make it to this platue.   As this city splits the region from the White Fal Fields to the North and the Farm lands to the south Wellspring can hold out against a siege from either side indefinitely. if from both sides then there are a vast network of tunnels that can get the people out but is not sufficient to sustain the populous.

Infrastructure

This City was first built by the founders of from the Disturbed Kingdom. It utilized the great energy form underground Aquifers to act as a Portal Gate through the Ummbra Mountains and to the other side of the continent. (there is a sister gate in the 3-5 region). Know only to the ruler of the Disturbed Kingdom is that the original gate system is actually a hub connection to allow transfer to all gates linked with it. Only he can control and change its destination. This is why the coastal city of Silkwallow was used as the transfer point to the mainland. This was original evacuation method to get everyone to Chillingnham as there is only the one gate method off the island designed for no more than 8 at a time and only very strong individuals. Most would perish or be thrown to the outer planes if they tried to use the portal. This meant that most the evacuees had to be taken out by boat to island.   After everyone was evacuated the gate was locked to its sister gate and then the entire city was abandoned. much was lost in the Color Stone War and many others before the Humans of the land took it over and used it as a trading hub. they did not know how the gate worked and many legends grew around the black towers and structures that make up the gate mechanism. Many have perished trying to remove the structures as they are well guarded even to this day. The Ruler of the KOTD still uses the gate on occasion to check the status of the mainland as is his duty.   The Humans built their city over top of it. mush was to the north with many smaller villages to the south. When the elves came they did destroy mush of the norther city. They re-built much of this in their image. The southern city was walled off and much of it grew to be the industrial sectors and slums. the city still grew beyond the wall. Many of the vendors and trades less favored by the elves existing in the outer city. to the west of the High Spring (northern sector) and beyond the wall is much of the farming and fishing communities as well as the Spring River shipping between Wellspring, White Fal and Colovel.

History

Wellsping was already a ruin when the humans first settled here several hundred years before the Almayla Empire first settled on Continent of Herenya. The ruins of the City had been left and buried under layers of earth and over growth. The Human settlement had used the existing walls of the ruins on the north side of the River.   As Wellspring is the Highest settle-able point in Farshade it is also on of the most defend-able. The Spring River that leads into White Fal Lake is only cross-able at Wellspring and makes it a strategic point in holding the region. During the Hundred year war well spring was the main Military fortress of the area and was able to provide support quickly to any part of the region. This meant that holding Wellspring and Farshade Fortress would effectively give control of the land to the Empiore.   The Empire still found it hard to dominate the region as the Humans had not used Wellspring in the same was and the Fortress was used originally by the Giants against the Dragons to defend the trade routes into the mountain. The Human tribes that lived in Farshade did not require outside trade. This was the downfall of the Hurok Family Regnant that originally conquered the land. post did not understand the resources that Farshade had and had originally relied on imported supplies through the Ummbra Mountains to support the war effort.   Even though Brute force and countless dead won them the land in the end the Hurok Family was undone by this mentality and let to their death. Architecture

vast mix, the oldest is simplistic yet mesmerizing. The embedded archane workings feel hypnotic to those that stare to long.   The Human structures are very natural and seem to grow out of the ground. Most have been destroyed but the original Keep that is now the prison is one of them.   The newest elf structures have an elegance to them in the high city but the structures build in the lower city are mostly utilitarian.   the difference in the main through way as this is beautifully decorated. The Archane district does have some flare to it.   The grand healing center is a mix of all the cultures and has been a staple in the city since it founding. the waters have a natural healing quality over time. They do only work when applied within close proximity to the natural springs. This has lead many to research the waters and brought some of the best medical minds to wellspring, that are willing to make the journey. The Archane academy is split in three buildings, each build by a different era. The Healing Building is the Original Structure to the North, the school of artifcing (making magic items) is the Humans and to the south west, and the War magic school is the newest to the southeast.
