Descendents of the now extinct monsters that nearly hunted humans to extinction when human first came to Icebreak Peaks. Only campfire stories and wives' tales can say where they came from, most speculating that they are what remain from beings from the Astral Sea making landfall in the Material Plane during the 1st Age. These creatures prowl the forests of Icebreak Peaks, moving from tree to tree until they're above their victims. Hunters routinely disappear into the unnaturally darkened branches of the trees where the victim's comrades can see the eerie blue glow of the byrgeg's mouth and eyes peering back at them.
