Shrine to the Mami-Gone

A series of rough cut steps dig into the peat, reinforced with rotting wood. They lead up to a subdued shrine whose thousands of candles are wrapped in flat water plants.   Deeper: The shrine is largely a Berrylmen construction, though Corrhéan wetlanders of many walks who have encountered the Mami-Gone may come to pay respects or offer misguided protection. She will, on her occasional visit, step free of her shrouding weed wrap and spend a night among the cache of furs left as offering, found in the bole of an ancient cypress.   Visitors will find the small vernal pools perfectly enriching, having healing properties. Too, the absence of insects of any kind, a blessing. Within ten feet of the central candles, however, all speech is muted.
