Nervuré Monastery

Carved into rugged mountain cliffs, Nervuré Monastery serves as a secluded sanctuary for those seeking peace and reflection. Originally established as a refuge for repentant pilgrims, Nervuré now welcomes wanderers from all paths. Narrow stone pathways lead up the steep terrain, flanked by terraced fields of Cail, a hardy triticale cultivated by the monks. The buildings, hewn from rock, connect through arched corridors and winding staircases. Nervuré’s air is filled with the haunting choral echoes coming from the Chapel of Rippling Reeds.   Deeper: A haven for those who feel estranged or burdened, Nervuré draws wanderers, misfits, madmen and the weary who seek solace from worldly struggles. Here, outcasts and the restless find community and purpose in quiet contemplation, however with such an unusual assortment of personalities, intrigue, gossip, rumor and secrets spread like wildfire amongst the cloistered brethren.   The monastery traces its origins to Deliberate Olivar, a pilgrim who sought meaning after surviving the Ninth Host of the Lost Oasis. His dedication inspired others who also sought solace, leading to the transformation of the mountain’s caves into a thriving community. As the first Holy Pontif of Patience and known as the Chanticleer, Olivar used music to soothe troubled spirits. Revered by all, he lived humbly, marked by his symbol—a rooster atop an oak branch.   The title of High Cantor, a respected role among the holy orders, is fiercely contested between Nervuré Monastery and the rival Tower of Hours. This year, the Enclave approaches, and Nervuré is hosting internal auditions to select its representative. The High Cantor will lead sacred chants, bringing honor and influence to their monastery.   Nervuré’s grounds are dotted with small hermitages and simple lodges, each designed for solitude and contemplation. Communal halls house facilities for meditation, study, and ritual, while individual quarters, set in the cliffside, offer solitude. Monks tend the Chapel of Rippling Reeds and maintain extensive herb gardens where a variety of rare mountain plants thrive. Adventurers seek Nervuré for its array of herbs prized for potions, salves, and rare medicinal uses. The harsh mountain environment yields resilient plants with unique properties, carefully cultivated by the monks and herbalists.
