Lover’s Haunt
A silver stream flows through black, moss-covered boulders painted with runes until it falls over the lip of a hollow cave into the hands of a 25’ statue, and from there into a clear pool.
Deeper: Many of the black boulders are scrubbed of moss and painted in runes. Most are pornography; some are multi-ring wards against Detection and Rot. d6 dewcap colonies are the paint pigment necessary, and grow all around the pool.
The statue is of a giant Popolos staring up into the stream water falling into its eyes. The cave is limestone and goes back 30’ into hillside, adrip with stalactite, pyrite and quartz. The stone is slippery and the pool is deeper than it appears. A wooden ladder scales the ravine to a lawn with 1d4-1 trinkets always lost in the clean grass.
Burrowing animals nest throughout the ravine wall. Often a bedroll and a cache of supplies suitable for trysts are tucked in an oilskin within the cave. Rough-cut footholds lead high up to the Mint Way access beneath the earth.
A Then Popolos water gardener tends this wellspring font and it is a regular passage-point for cultural exchange.
Add Bells and Charliene to any intelligent encounter. The pair are often “gathering water from the spring”.
Full details on the Mint Way are on p. XX.
