Captain Arranda Vanda Vellis (a.k.a. The Huntress)

The most famous pirate hunter of the Windy Sea. Captain of the heavily armed war galley “Sea Devil”. A tall, black haired woman with dark eyes and hawkish features. She wears a magical chain mail coat and fights with a long sword and a short sword. She is also a deadly shot with a longbow. She is accompanied by her lover, the sorceress Mejara Surra Radda. The ship has a powerful ram, prow mounted liquid fire sprayers, the forecastle of the ship mounts a pair of springels, two catapults and eight stone or incendiary firing ballista on pivot mounts line the sides of this ship. The crew is made up of well-armed and trained professionals with several spell-casters on hand to provide magical support. Arranda typically goes after pirates who had bounties placed on them by the merchant leagues.

Personal history

Daughter of a merchant Captain, Arranda grew up on her father's ship. By the time she was a teenager she had become an experienced mariner. When she was nineteen her father was killed in a pirate attack on his ship while Arranda was on shore gathering supplies for his crew. Arranda used her father's considerable wealth to hire mercenaries and hunt down the pirates that killed him. She used the ship she captured from this group of pirates to hunt other pirate bands. As she collected wealth from capturing pirate vessels and collecting bounties she plowed most of her money back into the her enterprise. She commissioned a large, well-built purpose built warship which she equipped with the best weaponry. Her lover Majara originally joined her as a mercenary, but soon became her lover. They now have a family made up of children orphaned by pirates and a home, which they usually only see in winter, on Stone Island. It is known that the pirate lords of Rowes have placed a bounty on her head, but this had not stopped her from stalking them.
